Need right solution for FPS gaming and heavy music listening

NamelessPFG, your insight has been great.   I am looking at buying something this week, so it looks like I'll be trying the TiHD, especially since if it's "close enough" to the STX/ST, it definitely beats it out in price by a wide margin right now.   Thanks again guys!

Need right solution for FPS gaming and heavy music listening

Thanks NamelessPFG!   I've read that the stock drivers for that card are actually an improvement over previous gen and might not need PAX, but I could be wrong..   Has anyone listened to both the TiHD and the ST/STX or Phoebus, or all 3, and noticed one outright winning their ears over?

Need right solution for FPS gaming and heavy music listening

First off, I've used the forum in the past and you guys have been an invaluable source of information in helping me get the setup I already have, thank you! Now I need an upgrade.   The short:   Went from X-Fi Forte 7.1 to Xonar DG back to the X-Fi, now need an upgrade, and I'm sick of...

[Gaming] Auzentech Forte vs Essence STX + which OS?

As someone who spent dozen of hours researching into making an almost identical situation, let me say that from my point of view, I could not be happier with my pair of Windows 7 RC1 x64 with the Auzentech Forte. The February vista drivers work perfectly, and if you are a heavy music listener I...

Getting ATH AD-700 cans, have Realtek ALC888, should I get a new sound card?

To answer the first part, from my perspective anyway, even though most people will say otherwise... As a former owner of the Xonar DX, again IMO, the asus drivers can be just as awful if not more so than the creative drivers, with respects to legacy games. Most of the problems with crashing...

Getting ATH AD-700 cans, have Realtek ALC888, should I get a new sound card?

Going to have to agree with the above, I own the ATH-AD900 and when plugged into my ALC889A, it sounded like complete garbage. Hollow, distorted, lifeless, regardless of application. Sound card upgrade made a complete difference for me (x-fi forte).

    Auzen X-Fi™ Forte 7.1

@ROBSCIX (or anyone else who could comment) How is the Forte's built in headphone amp treating you thus far? Does it provide good enough bass, etc.? Anything you could compare it to (obviously not going to be the quality of a $400 amp, yes I know). If anyone is using it for games, how are...

    Fiio E5 - Crackling/Static when charging

It's been mentioned sporadically from what I've searched but is this a problem for most owners thus far? Reason being is I'd like to get an exchange before time runs out if it isn't. When charging through usb (red light comes on), I'll get random crackling, static, sometimes a faint hum...

    Questions on the Audio-Technica AD900.

Although unfortunately I'm just not educated enough on audiophile headphones to give comparison, I can say that as an owner of the 555 and recently purchased the ATH-AD900, I will have to agree with the above on the amp benefits. I decided to pair mine with just a fiio e5 since it was cheap...

    Fiio amps?

I would just like the echo the problems others are having with the distortion on the E5. It is very clear and not faint at all when plugged into a USB port to charge, however it can be quite random. Sometimes when I am first charging it it will make loud crackling noises then drown out...

Need tips for competitive gaming on a budget

Looks like I'm on the road of 700's & an auzen forge, seeing as how it has the same chip as the prelude but should cost less. 900's if I find money growing on trees somewhere. Thanks for all your input thus far.

Need tips for competitive gaming on a budget

So for the moment it definitely looks like a race between the AD700 and AD900. I have read that some people really prefer it for competitive gaming because of sound stage (sometimes too huge?) and some say that it sucks, but I'm at least hoping I am in the right direction. Can anyone with...

Need tips for competitive gaming on a budget

Don't the AD900 and DT770 require amp to be any good? From what I've read the audio technica series not so much, beyer yes. Reason being it would blow my budget.

Need tips for competitive gaming on a budget

Been lurking and searching for a while now on the forums but still undecided, so without further wasting time I'm hoping some of the experts or some of those who have been in my position can offer some guidance. First, my budget would be $200-250. I could stretch it only if it would truly be...
