Bowers & Wilkins P5 Series 2
I've both the P7 and the P5 II and I believe the P7 is miles ahead. More balanced sound, better all over the spectrum. BUT....I also think the P5 II is one of the best truly portable headphone around if you prefer a "commercial" sound. In fact, it's the most comfortable on-ear I've ever worn...- Moody

Beyerdynamic A200P High-End Portable DAC
I've sent it back. To my ears the output of my iPhone 5 sounds clearer and more spacious than the a200p. The a200p and the Shure SE846 are not a good match imo.- Moody

Beyerdynamic A200P High-End Portable DAC
I bought one last week and I'm happy with it. I'm using it with my iPhone 5 and Shure SE846's. Output volume is much higher than from my iPhone. The A200p gives a bit better sound, but mainly a different sound than my iPhone. A bit more separation, slighty better bass response, but a...- Moody

What Live concerts have you attended?
I visit music festivals every Summer for a bunch of years on a row, so I can make a nice list. Beside that, I visit gigs on regular base in my home town or in Amsterdam, Paris, London. One of the best concerts I've seen in the last 15 years: - Pearl Jam - Prince - Beirut - Arcade Fire... -
Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
Wow, the SE846 pairs wonderful with the iPod Nano 7G. Plenty of volume, plenty of dynamics and space. With my Sony PHA-1 it sound a *little* bit better, but it can also be my imagination. I love these forums and I know I'm not very "hipster" when I say this: You don't need an external amp...- Moody

JDS Labs C5/C5D (pg96) portable amp/amp+DAC
Question. I'm looking for a amp/dac to go with my iPod Classic 7G and Shure SE846 IEMs. Has the C5D advantages above the C5 in this case? And how do I connect both for the best audio quality? Thanks a lot! :) BTW: I can't imagine how bass boost must be like on the Shure SE846- Moody

Thanks, that's helpful! One disadvantage is that I have to double amp the signal from my iPod, because there's no usb input. Or am I missing something?- Moody

Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
Looking for a good portable amp/dac to go with my iPod Classic 7G and SE846s. The JDS C5(D) seems a good buy for $189/$249. They should be good with 9 ohm IEMs, right?? More recommendations for a small amp/dac for my iPod Classic are welcome. Looking for the best audio quality for max...- Moody

Because I don't like the stock cable (too rigid around the ears), I'm looking for a nice silver cable. Don't need balanced, don't need ultra high end. Max $100/$150. Which one do you guys recommend??? I already mailed Ted, but I really like to know if there are alternatives. Thanks!- Moody

Just tried the SE846's with the Audyssey app on my iPhone and wow....it's quite an improvement to the standard music player. There isn't a SE846 preset yet, but I chose the SE535 preset which matches the SE846 quite good imo. Here is the app...- Moody

What was your first mp3 player...?
Diamond Rio 32MB from 1998 Space for 1 album :) I had it for a couple of months, sold it and switched to my minidisc player again :) My first good mp3 player was the 1st generation iPod. Very expensive in 2001 for a 20-year old student, but maybe the greatest leap in DAPs in history.- Moody

Favrite price promotion for Hisound’s upcoming new Nova player
The product could be a nice option if you were looking for a small Cowon or iPod Nano. Smart thing you added a SD card slot. This makes the player very interesting. Now I want to test it how it sounds with the Merlins I ordered :)- Moody

What do you think of Muse's 2nd Law?
I don't like the album. They try too much and fail miserable. I liked them for many years (first 2 albums were great). I've seen them live 3 times, but the last 2 albums are hollow and lifeless. If I want to listen to Queen, I grab an album of Queen. I can compare Muse to Coldplay. Super... -
Best "audiophile" on-ear headphone
Thanks, but I really like to have a headphone like the HD25-1, which sits on the ears. Because I often wear them 3-4 hours a day, they must not be too "earstrophobic". I'm leaning towards the EW9 and ES10 at the moment, but not sure if they are better than the HD25-1's (sound quality wise)...- Moody
