I have 55's as well. They are almost identical to '77s but lack the ultimate  level of bass extension. All these bits I mentioned at the top will fit '55s equally well. I would go for an '80s or '90s integrated amp with a phono stage as a separate one will be more costly. Amps like NAD 3020A/3120 had really nice phono stage and were very common. Cyrus One has amazing phonostage. Or Japanese minimalist amps made for 'audiophile' market like Pioneer A400, Rotel...

check out the ones i mention at the top on ebay. They are more comfortable than the originals and especially made for the eggos.

Has anyone used this device with a streaming service like Spotify or Deezer? there seems to be a lot of static coming through like digital dropouts in the stream even when in local model so playing of the hard drive ostensibly...

Did you replace the stylus? If the technics amp is  a contemporay of the turntable and you've plugged it into the phono inputs then a new stylus / cartridge would be the most obvious thing as it sounds like  yours is completely shot.
