Well im a procrastinator. I have a rev R1 grub that i finaly found a use for. However looks like 4 revs happened while i was gone. Is there anything i need to do before i finish soldering it? The new rev doesnt use a bipolar crystal. Looks like the only real change is psel/fsel was...- nightanole

Cavalli-Kan Kumisa III help? CK2III
An hour warm up? I had mine setup with the heatsink being the case and i didnt have more then 20min before stabilization. I would try changing your bias pots (R19 and R43) for increased current and use bigger heatsinks(i used the case) or air cool the outputs. I also bonded all my bjt's...- nightanole

Gamma-2 (γ2) DAC Thread
your computer cant detect anything via optical/coax out. It just sends it out, regardless if anything is connected. Id work backwards. Set winamp to wave out, see if you can get anything on spdif out. To double check asio (guess your running xp) try foobar2000 with it. I take it you did not...- nightanole

Recommend a strip board for a dips
I need to proto a opamp buffer but never bought a proto board in my life (well i had the radio shack ones that lifted pads). Any recommendations for strip boards (i think thats what solder style are called) for mounting a dip socket and some regulators with caps?- nightanole

Gamma-2 (γ2) DAC Thread
If i have a tube amp that can take 3-4 volts of dc offset, would it be better for me to bypass the output capacitors and run dc strait to the amp? The tube amps driver stage is cap coupled to the output stage. The driver tube is biased at -7 volts, so the +-2.5v signal with a 2.5v dc off set...- nightanole

Windows 7 x64 Budget Soundcard or DAC ($50-80)
Personaly since you just have stereo, id just get the cheapest optical/coax out sound card that would put out true 44.1khz and not upconvert everything to 48khz. Your sony can do the rest of the dac work and headphone amplification. It wont sound as good as a true dac/amp combo, but with $40...- nightanole

How much of a realistic improvment from soundcard to Dac/Amp?
It should be a huge improvement in clarity and bass. Its like of like looking out side through a screen door, and then just opening the door. Yes everything is the same, but now you can see/hear all the little things, and the amp wont run out of gas with authoritative bass. The main...- nightanole

The GrubDAC
I got the rev1 proto version. My active volume control says it needs a source impedance of 600ohms or lower and control has a input impedance of 12k. The WM8524 dac says it "likes" input inpedances between 1k -49k. So am i safe? If im not safe can some one recommend a simple buffer that...- nightanole

Phase angles at cut off frequencies of RC filters
Should i even worry about them? Low-Pass Filters High-Pass Filters Input Capacitors for Headphone Amps Most of the time here we use input/output cap values that have cut off frequencies well above or below the human hearing range (2hz and 100khz for example) to reduce phase...- nightanole

Passive stereo summing circuit
Anyone have a circuit for converting stereo to mono for a small desk radio amp? Only requirements are its passive and only costs a few bucks from mouser or digikey. Just twisting the left and right together doesnt sound like a good idea- nightanole

Alternate volume controls
the volumite also controls the internal digital volume control of the WM8740 dac. No external attenuator needed. Im wonder if this would sound the best since its the shortest path and the least amount of components added to the path, and its all done in the digital domain with no conversions.- nightanole

Alternate volume controls
Ive noticed alot of new style volume attenuators out there and kinda wanted to make a discussion on the pro's/con's of each. Heres my quicky list. 1. AMB δ1 The δ1 relay-based R-2R stereo attenuator 2. Gold Point stepped attenuators Prices 3. DACT DACT audio attenuators 4. The ebay...- nightanole

Power buffer for a mini3
Im venturing into power amps and had an idea for the shop. My original intention was to build a 2-3 watt tube amp for my desk speaker. However i already have a mini3/gamma2 combo box at the shop. Carrie USB-Powered Headphone Amplifier
Hey quick question that i have not tested. Could you use this as a preamp and not need a input cap into a dc strait amp? Im not sure since this have a dc off set of 10-20mv. If this went into a amp with a gain of 20, that would turn into a dc off set of .2v -.4v correct?- nightanole
