USB Switch (multiple USB sources, one DAC)
I'm looking for a way to run 3 or 4 USB sources into a single USB DAC. This is so I can switch between my Mac, work PC, game console, etc all on USB into the same DAC. Is there any USB "4-to-1" KVM switch that people have experience with? Until now, I've used converters to convert USB to...- inertianinja

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
After refurbishing my original, and having it be so good, I want to start collecting them. Like a HE-500 rescue farm where they can have nice comfortable headbands, and be fed nothing but healthy balanced power, so they can age gracefully.- inertianinja

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
Has anyone fit a Deva headband on the HE500? I just put a “comfort” (HE400i) headband on my original HE 500, and I like it. Buuuut I also just bought a second HE500 with the intent of refurbishing it, and I’m thinking of going with a different headband this time.- inertianinja

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
Yes, I'm aware of the Fuzzor mod, but really not interested. My stock cable crapped out very early into my ownership. I cut it up and used the wire for a million other mods and soldering projects over the years. Right now I'm using a cheap Aliexpress cable for SE, and a balanced cable I made...- inertianinja

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
I completed a little refresh of my HE500 last night. - Replaced the headband with the Hifiman “comfort” headband - Removed the fabric screen on the grilles - Replaced the plastic trim rings with Aluminum Current pic: The headband mod was a little scary (drilling) but now that I've done it...- inertianinja

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
Well for this thread, we can keep it to the HE500. Low impedance, but they get better with power. I remember trying them with the Fiio K5 and the HE500 sounded horrendous, even if the volume was loud enough. My LCD-XC, by contrast, is fine out of the Micro iDSD even on eco mode.- inertianinja

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
@iFi audio This may be slightly off-topic, but for power-hungry planars, would you recommend going with a full-size desktop amplifier running off an outlet, rather than the iDSD micro BL that is running off a battery/USB?- inertianinja

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
s Yes, iDSD micro BL. the right channel does not really become audible until past the 9 o clock position. Based on the FAQ page on your site, I set the gain shooting for 12-o-clock as normal listening volume (for my LCD-XC that’s in ECO, for example). I’m wondering if I should get a higher...- inertianinja

So what would you do for a SS amp for the HE500? Magni Heresy? Magnius? SMSL SP200? Topping A90? THX AAA 789? I have a Brooklyn DAC so balanced is an option.- inertianinja

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
Yep. So many high-power.m balanced amps have come out in the past few years. When I first got the HE500, the Lyr 1 was the go-to. I am looking at a few options but if I’m honest, I might not need it. The iFi will do around 4W in turbo. Only thing is, there is some channel imbalance with the...- inertianinja

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
Right now, the most powerful amp I have is an iFi micro iDSD BL. I sold my other amps when I stopped using really power-hungry cans. I had a Lyr for a while, but if I was getting something new today I’d want purely solid state.- inertianinja

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
I just took my HE500 out of the closet after several years. These were my first real high-end headphone, and I've been on a real journey since. The original box has degraded to the point where it's not salvageable. Crappy glue, I guess. It's going to take some time for my brain to re-adjust to...- inertianinja

LCD-X and XC Update
I had about 6 hours of listening to my new LCD-XC today out of an iFi iDSD BL. Liking it very much so far. Sound has been great with most genres, it feels neutral. I like the bass of this, but it highlights how "sweetened" the TH900's bass is. I didn't like the sound with the iFi's bass boost...- inertianinja

LCD-X and XC Update
Since none of you people would sell me your XC, I went and bought one at Audio46. Literally just got them out of the box, my only comment so far is that it would be cool to swap the cups with the marble carbon that the LCD-2C has, rather than old-school 3K carbon. Or maybe add the carbon fiber...- inertianinja

Sennheiser HD820
mine arrives tomorrow, but I demoed a new pair in a store earlier this week. I noticed that the bass changed drastically when I put just a small amount of pressure on the cups, I guess getting a better seal. I wonder if the issue is the stiffness of the pads, and whether they break in over...- inertianinja

The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread
Personally I prefer the thinner pads. The HD800 are so light that I didn’t see any advantage for the thick pillow pads. Also the leather-ish pads are preferable to me, as the velour pads feel weird to me after too much time.- inertianinja
