Is there a better opamp than the OPA627 ?
What sounds good is such a subjective thing. One of my favorite and most used op amps is the jrc4558 in the to-5 metal package. Something about this chip just hits all the right spots.- bootdsc

Best sounding cheep op-amp for CMoy's? OPA2227, OPA2228, AD8066...other?
When you build the cmoy if you increase the capacity of the input and or output capacitors you will change the roll-off and it will give you a warmer sound. If I was home I could tell you exactly the size I use but it's been a while since I built my last one. I have well over a dozen similar...- bootdsc

Help me create the best 3D printed T50rp headphone!
The renderings look great, what did you come up with for the headband? i gave up trying to print one because of straight issues so i repurpused one from a 60's headphone off ebay. Three of my printed hp's can be found in this thread. http://www.head-fi.org/t/716835/3d-printed-headphones-wip- bootdsc

Orthodynamic Roundup
Well i guess it's all relative but that's why i used the word inexpensive and not cheap. Ill never drop $200+ just for some foam and a dozen square inches of leather. If you want to go the route of making your own check out using a form and press to create your shape so with say a donut you only...- bootdsc

Orthodynamic Roundup
Can anyone recommend a brand that makes inexpensive real leather ear pads? Needed for t50rp and my dt770 compatible 3d printed headset. My ears are setting tired of all the knockoff junk pads being sold on amazon, they are never that comfy and they fall apart way to fast with daily use. ...- bootdsc

DIY Earphone/bud cable with mic?
Yeah most of us buy a cheap headset (made for android or iphone) and use its cable with mic assembly to replace the old cable. It's almost impossible to diy a new cable that wont be really stiff and the parts cost is a bit high.- bootdsc

Cowon d2 hardware mod (Z'ning mod)
How do you like the sound after modding? Should have added more punch to the low bass. Great find with those surface mount capacitors, they are so compact you wont even know its modded. Your English is fine, we try not to use so,the, but or and to often because you end up with a run-on...- bootdsc

Need help, cable break at memory wire boundry.
If you don't mind the cable getting an inch shorter just have someone cut, strip and solder the wires back together and yes at least 3 sections of heat shrink tubing will have to be used. This type of wire is often call magnet wire as its used for electromagnets and enamaled wire because instead...- bootdsc

Upgrade internal wiring or not bother
I wouldn't solder right to the pads of the driver if it can be helped but that magnet wire can be a real pain to strip and solder. Be quick when you solder on the pads and make sure not to touch the inner to pads as they hold the almost invisible coil wires soldered in place. Also make sure you...- bootdsc

Newbie modding help with B-Tech BT928
You could do something like this http://www.rock-grotto.co.uk/B-tech.htm Id put in a IC socket so you can try out a few different op amp's and swap out the cap's like what was done in that link. Don't bother replacing resistors that's pointless long as they are the right resistance. Then maybe...- bootdsc

Stiff Re-Cables
He's saying you would run 12 wires, 6 to each side all the way down to your trs jack. so yes there would still be a y off but you wont have to solder extra ground wire because you will already have enough wires running the full length.- bootdsc

Need help on speakers for a DIY industrial type ear muff project.
Okay well its not the impedance its the sensitivity per mw that matters, 24ohm is harder to drive then 50ohm headphones but those 24ohm headphones could have a better sensitivity rating so they will get louder. You might just need to get a better pair of headphone drivers, i like the philips hdj...- bootdsc

Need help on speakers for a DIY industrial type ear muff project.
I have built something similar with some 3m hearing protectors, just remove the drivers from any full size double ended(cable goes into each side) headphone and carefully unsolder the the wires. Drill holes in each side just big enough for the cable to pass through then feed it in and solder the...- bootdsc
