Niimbus Ultimate Series US4/US4+/US5/US5 Pro Headphone Amps - by Lake People
Did you connect niimbus to Dave through XLR or RCA? Any particular cables that you prefer to get it as transparent as possible? I’m wondering if I could have the niimbus between my Dave and Riviera AFC-10 to use as a pre-amp with the riviera or as a SS amp by itself. It would be awesome if it is...- silkytoad

Oh and lastly, was the volume knob noise issue ever solved? Yes, I believe I read it was mostly a us4+ “issue” (if it can be called that).- silkytoad

Niimbus Ultimate Series US4/US4+/US5/US5 Pro Headphone Amps - by Lake People
Anyone with experience using niimbus with MScaler Dave and 1266TC? I know there’s a lot of Susvara fans here but have not heard much about synergy with the 1266TC. Also ZMF Verite Closed? Who would be the best dealer for the US? edit: Oh and lastly, was the volume knob noise issue ever solved?- silkytoad

Solid State Headphone Amp Recommendation
I am very interested in adding a SS to Ku setup. What did you end up getting? I’m currently running Auralic Aries G2.1 -> MScaler -> Dave -> Riviera AFC-10 -> 1266 TC (Zmf Verite Closed coming soon). I love my riviera but am interested in a pure SS to play with as well. Is Niimbus the best...- silkytoad

Riviera AIC-10 headphones & speakers amplifier
Right now I’m using Sablon Gran Corona cable and I am very happy. TBH I haven’t done a lot of testing but curious to know if upgrading to the King is worth the investment!? Also curious to hear what others like!- silkytoad

Riviera AIC-10 headphones & speakers amplifier
Just for documentation sakes I will update with my situation. I contacted Silvio Delfino and he recommended I do the following: I was able to source some fast burn fuses from Amazon, and replace all 4 of them. I turned the amp on with no signal and load and fortunately the pair of LED’s on...- silkytoad

Riviera AIC-10 headphones & speakers amplifier
So I opened up the amp, and found that theres 2 fuses on each side close to the heat dissipation. Not surprisingly, two fuses on one side appear to have burned. I will order some new ones and pray for that to be the only damage done!- silkytoad

Riviera AIC-10 headphones & speakers amplifier
Uh oh, something terrible happened. I tried to run a pair of tabletop speakers through my Riviera and no sound would come out. I te-checked the connections and apparently the spades on the right side of speakers touched making a short. I lost all audio from the right side, I am really hoping I...- silkytoad

Riviera AIC-10 headphones & speakers amplifier
I think I narrowed it down to the tube being the issue. I thought I had tested two brimars but I think I mixed them up and tested the same one twice . Anyways, I tried other tubes and the problem got fixed. I’m so happy it was only that, I was getting very worried it could be some...- silkytoad

Riviera AIC-10 headphones & speakers amplifier
So my setup is: Audioquest Niagara 3000, Auralic Aries G2.1, MScaler, DAVE, Riviera AFC-10 (no volume knob), Abyss 1266 TC. I was using a Brimar tube on the Riviera which to my ears made the 1266 sound excellent. I did start noticing some slight "pops" on my right ear, and when I put the music...- silkytoad

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, I would love to test the pairing of an MDave + Riviera + Klipsch (either Cornwalls or La Scalas). Unfortunately I have no way of testing the system , so will probably have to save up and eventually make a blind purchase :astonished: !- silkytoad

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
Should I be worried about this? I’m planning to upgrade to DAVE with my G2.1 and Sablon 2020 USB cable, will both galvanic isolations cause issues or defeat the purpose?- silkytoad

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
I exclusively listen to digital music. Ny setup consists of Digital Streamer -> MScaler -> TT2 -> Riviera Headphone Amp (power amp, no volume control) through TT2 RCA out. I am not using any additional preamplifier and use the volume knob of the TT2. I would like to have the flexibility of...- silkytoad

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
Would you mind sharing what power plant do you use? Do you plug in amps to the power plant or directly to the wall? Thanks! Edit: Forgot to add, I am curious about not only noise filtering, but surge protection. Is it a risk to not use any surge protection with our precious Chords?- silkytoad

Does anyone know if Chord recommends using a surge protector or power treatment between the MScaler (or other 15v devices like the TT2 for that matter) and the wall?- silkytoad

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
As far as ABYSS superconductor cables, I guess some people like having the two cables meet at the 4 pin connector and some people like having two completely separate cables for their headphones, more of a preference I suppose.- silkytoad

And to my knowledge only 2 of the 3 pins in the dual 3 pin XLR setup are used, so for our purposes it doesn’t really matter if you send them through dual cables or through a single 4 pin cable.- silkytoad

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
I’m assuming you are talking about dual 3 pin XLR vs single 4 pin XLR correct and strictly for headphones? Some amps output more power on their balanced out vs unbalanced out but that is mostly due to design rather than anything else. There is a lot of debate on wether balanced > to unbalanced...- silkytoad

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
My new 1266 is in my office and won’t be able to use it for the next week or two so can’t speak from experience. I agree that it makes no sense that the TT2 wouldn’t be able to properly drive it. I’ve read so much about what high end tube amps such as the WA33 or Riviera bring to the 1266...- silkytoad
