anyone here yo-yo? or used to?
I use to be into yo-yos back in middle school. I could do a few tricks, but nothing extremely hard. I had a Bumblebee and an all-metal yo-yo called a Mag, which I paid like $80 for and now it just sits in its case.- RVD

'Transparent' reference headphones.
Quote: When I auditioned Matt's SR325s, I picked them up, listened for a few seconds, said, "they sound just like my SR80s," and immediately put them down and didn't listen to them for the rest of the meet. Wally, that was actually the Grado HP-2 you listened to that day. I have never...- RVD

Seenheiser responds, Mike admits defeat
Quote: Really? I noticed a huge difference with my SR-325's and also with my SR-60's. I'm surprised that you didn't hear it with yours. Honestly, I didn't really notice it too much with the SR60's or the SR80's. If I remember correctly when I had both headphones I left them playing...- RVD

Seenheiser responds, Mike admits defeat
Quote: It could be the phones I have owned have had no significant changes, whereas others are more prone to this. I would say that is probably it. Other then the W2002 and HD600 I have not noticed too much of an improvement with break in with other headphones I have owned. Not saying...- RVD

One headphone/one amp for all music
Quote: Originally posted by lkmich Yes, I've been taking psychic lessons. I guess they are working. I didn't even notice the last part of your post about wanting to know good all around combos. I should be more observant. Quote: Are the K501s really as anemic as...- RVD

Head-Fi Needs YOU! (to write an FAQ!)
I got bored one day and decided to try and do one awhile back, but I didn't get very far as I got bored with it after 10 minutes so it is incomplete, but anyways here is what I did start: Head-Fi FAQ Terms: 1.Burn-In/Break In- Burn/Break in is where the headphones ‘settle’ in and...- RVD

One headphone/one amp for all music
Quote: Yes, and if you read my post carefully you'll see that's what I said, too. The differences among brands tend to diminish as you approach perfection. The same is true with speakers or any other product. Could you please show me this post? I did a quick re-read, but could not...- RVD

One headphone/one amp for all music
Quote: RVD, What $200 phone are you referring to? Is that what HD600s are going for these days? Yes, I was referring to the HD600's. I paid $250, because I bought them locally, but I believe they are close to $200 if bought from Meier. Quote: BTW: I'm not saying that a...- RVD

Effects on amplifiers for the Etymotic ER4 series....
fyleow, I don't think you're crazy. When I owned the ER4S I didn't find too much difference with them in sound whether I was using a Melos or the headphone out of a pcdp. There was a difference, but it was very small.- RVD

One headphone/one amp for all music
lkmich, you read my mind, I was thinking of posting this exact question. I totally agree with your first post and those are my thoughts exactly. I can see having multiple headphones for different uses such as for home use and portable use, but for different music I don't see it. Also I...- RVD

HD-600 veil a function of natural sound or not?
On some amps I can hear the veil on the HD600's and others I don't. To me the veil is caused by the sloppy bass that can be overpowering on certain amps causing the recessed vocals and also masks detail. Also I think the rolled off highs contributes too which I think can be greatly helped by...- RVD

Why use an Active Headphone Amp?
Quote: Yep....it is just when ever I build/buy anything I go "full-out". Sure the Gilmore may not be the best sounding amp you can get, but is certainly an awesome amp. To me what Wodgy suggested about getting a Gilmore or another amp and building a "passive" headphone amp is the best...- RVD

You Can't Beat a Melos
I to love the Melos it has been my favorite amp to of all the amps I have listened too. Also I totally agree that the HD600/Melos combo is awesome. Quote: Don't know about the K1000s, doubt it. I ran the K1000's off the Melos for a week and the sound was pretty good. I imagine the...- RVD

The Sony CD3000 seems to be either loved by people who have listened to it or hated by people who have listened to it. How centered are you're headphones?
I have noticed that vocals are sometimes off center, but I have noticed that it is dependent on the cd playing. Sometimes the vocals are to the left and sometimes to the right, sometimes in the center. I think I my left ear might be a little more receptive as I notice vocals the most a little to...- RVD
