When I was in public school in the early 60s, the yo-yo (and Duncan "Spin Top" ) companies would send older, expert kids to the schools to do tricks and create interest in the products. It worked. Yo yo champs would also appear regularly on TV shows much the same way frisbee was promoted in the 70s and 80s.

I had to sell my Yo-Yos, and put the money toward cables!

I use to be into yo-yos back in middle school. I could do a few tricks, but nothing extremely hard. I had a Bumblebee and an all-metal yo-yo called a Mag, which I paid like $80 for and now it just sits in its case.

So I unpacked my old one and gave it a spin - only to discover it was about a hojillion times better than the "new" models, it spun fast and hard, really hard. Easy to control, amazing spin times.

Only downside - it span so fast and weighed so much it hurt when it returned at full speed, so I'd get a sore hand pretty fast. So I had a calloused finger and sore hand, until the craze wore off and I retired the yoyo again

... I can't believe I just told a yoyo story.

Was it this one?

I know you all want to split the atom, but anyway...the best cheap yo-yo is the "turbo bumble bee" just make sure to get the "gt" version, and I like the "cold-fusion" also, and get the GT, but I think that's the only one that *duncan* makes anymore

(playmaxx doesn't make them, duncan bought playmaxx/pro-yo)
