Chord Qutest: the successor to the 2Qute with Hugo 2 tech!
https://chordelectronics.co.uk/product/qutest/ https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/chord-qutest.22853/ From another source, with a few corrections on my part: Chord Electronics has launched what it’s calling the most advanced compact DAC on the planet, the Qutest. The Qutest is based on the...- Music Alchemist

Where to buy RCA to speaker wire (or spade plug) cables?
I noticed that many audiophiles were much more impressed driving passive speakers directly from Chord DAC/amps (such as the DAVE and Hugo 2) rather than a power amp. To do this, you need special cables that aren't so easy to find. Basically I am looking for cables that are RCA on one end and...- Music Alchemist

Emotiva Airmotiv T1 passive floorstanding speakers
I had my eye on these but ended up getting the Klipsch RP-250F. I'm considering replacing them with the Emotivas. If anyone has heard them, share your thoughts! https://emotiva.com/product/airmotiv-t1/- Music Alchemist

Aggressive DACs under $500?
I'm looking for a more aggressive DAC than the Chord Mojo, which I currently use with speakers. I don't mean tonally aggressive or anything like that, but powerful dynamics, impact, physical energy, grip, incisive detail...know what I mean? The closest I've gotten to that under $500 is the...- Music Alchemist

Don't you just hate when soundtracks are unreleased?
This happens all too often. You hear amazing music in a movie, television series, game, or whatever, and for some inexplicable reason, it's never made available. What's worse is when they do release a soundtrack and get your hopes up, but only some of the music is on it.- Music Alchemist

Cheapest DACs with high output voltage?
What are the cheapest dedicated DACs you know of that output 2 volts or higher? Ideally, I'd like it to have USB & S/PDIF optical inputs, RCA outputs, downloadable drivers, and ship from the USA. But the only requirement is that it outputs 2 volts or higher into an external amp. This one is...- Music Alchemist

Looking for a headphone to speaker wire adapter box
I noticed that someone created a DIY box with a 1/4" headphone output on one end and speaker wire on the other so that you can drive headphones from speaker taps without having to rewire them. Does anyone know if there is something like this available for sale? (I know of the RobinetteBox, but...- Music Alchemist

Why do amp specs say "2 x so-and-so watts per channel"?
When amp specs say something like "2 x 15 watts per channel", it makes it seem like it's 30 watts...but it's actually just 15 watts, right? Why does it say "2 x"? I see specs like this for everything from portable headphone amps to speaker amps.- Music Alchemist

Computer power-related noise issue with active monitors
I got JBL LSR305 speakers today. They sound amazing...but there's horrendous computer noise that's often as loud as the music. I know it's related to computer power because when I unplug my laptop's power cable, the noise disappears...but I obviously can't leave it on battery power for long...- Music Alchemist

How do I have over 9,000 avatar views?!
My avatar view count... What I'd like to know is...how? I mean, sure, I have over 200 avatars and counting...but do so many people really follow me and go so far as to click the avatar on my profile and view the original images on a frequent basis? (The view count does not increase...- Music Alchemist

Left driver rattling... What to do?!
I recently bought my second Yamaha HPH-MT220. (Used to own it in 2015.) Unfortunately, the left driver rattles occasionally, usually with sub-bass. (Never had this problem with the first pair.) I took off the pad to see if there was anything I could do without opening up the headphones...- Music Alchemist

[never mind]
I'll have a Mojo in a few days and am trying to figure out which headphones would give me the best (which for me means most accurate) sound with it. Edit: Never mind. Bought an HD 800! I recently got an AudioQuest NightHawk, but it's so inaccurate I will probably return it. (After...- Music Alchemist

A crazy solution for glasses users to wear glasses without them touching your headphones
So today I got an AudioQuest NightHawk and quickly realized that wearing my glasses under the pads reduced the sound quality and comfort. (And was already starting to make creases in the pads.) This is a fairly common recurrence for me with headphones in general. What I often did in the past...- Music Alchemist

Head-Fi's avatar resizing is blurry
I don't know if this is something that can be changed, but I thought I'd share regardless. When you upload an image as an avatar, the site resizes it for profiles (175 pixels), posts (100 pixels), etc. However, the way it resizes it makes it blurrier than it would normally look if you...- Music Alchemist

Koss UR55...unbearably bright and harsh?!
I got a brand new Koss UR55 from Amazon today. I also own the KTXPRO1 and previously owned the KSC75 and UR40. All of those are a little bright up top, but nothing that ruins the experience, and I love each of them in their own way. The UR55, on the other hand, is so bright and harsh it's...- Music Alchemist
