Look! MOONDROP's First HiFi Smartphone, MIAD01
So it isn't 3,5 TRRS balanced, but 3,5 TRS and unbalanced? I was confused by the headline. Thank you.- shigzeo

Cayin YB04 In-Ear Monitor
As far as I understand it, and have used with other audiophiles, reverb has to do with the environmental (could be in or outside of the instrument) echos. This can happen in any frequency band, and can show wet, or boomy, or anything else that comes with echo territory.- shigzeo

Cayin YB04 In-Ear Monitor
I was able to borrow the YB04 (for far too long, thank you for your patience, Andy) and finally got my word out about it. I love everything but the included cable, which doesn't wrap around my ears, and flops out. Everything else, from the beautiful faceplate, to the perfectly moulded box, to...- shigzeo

Cowon Plenue R2
I am about to finish the R2 review and hopefully headofnics will publish it soon. I mean that the optical signal seems to drop frequently. I am using the same cable I use with various CD players and home Decks. With the Cowon it drops optical signal. It isn't a big bugger because I usually...- shigzeo

Cowon Plenue R2
Anyone else having optical signal cut out from 5:00 to 12:00? I am trying to get my favourite albums recorded to MD via the R2 but it is a disaster with repeated optical signal drops.- shigzeo

The discovery thread!
I had the Roxanne Aion in my studio for a few days and decided to write about it. It sounds great, but I can't get it to fit well at all. In fact, it sounds really good. I also love the cable/fastener design.- shigzeo

[FiiO BTR3K] Balanced High-Fidelity Bluetooth Amp(Questionnaire About Upgrading the BTR3K updated in 2023-6-14)
This is just a test of signal quality (as in wireless signal strength), but it should be enough to show how well this thing is constructed to conduct its primary job of getting you away from your source with your favourite pair of earphones/headphones. Impressed like mad. -

Disclaimer: Shanling sent the Q1 to me for a review at Headfonics. That you can read here: Shaling Q1 review. I also reviewed it at ohm-image. I paid nothing for it and have enjoyed it immensely. Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP
Even a sports car will use way less fuel when driven at normal driving speeds than it will when driving fast. Most of the time, the volumes at which we listen don't soak up power. There are some amps that are super powerful but receive weak signals from DACs and end up putting out relatively...- shigzeo

Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP
I think we are all on the same page as far as all of that goes. And, I am fully aware of the power sucking circuits in these devices. I don't believe that they provide better SQ because of that. Sony's are weak in comparison and many people swear that they sound great. SQ in the idiosyncratic...- shigzeo

Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP
Anyway, I spent two or three sentences on battery life in a review that overwhelmingly praised the N6ii; why we have to hang here is beyond me.- shigzeo

Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP
That is of course the case, but I am quite sure that software implementation is also culprit. Even in smartphones better low level programming can yield massive gains in battery life. I k ow that these machines use high end DACs and amps but they require mains in order to last a day. That is...- shigzeo

Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP
My DP-S1 gets over twenty with a bit of coaxing. All smartphones do. We are devolving. It’s not just power. I believe that coding optimisation isn’t very good for many of these DAPs.- shigzeo

Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP
Again, totally fair, but as I (admittedly only cryptically described), I don't think that the N6ii and Android in its form jive all that well.- shigzeo

Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP
I suppose I live in a world where 5 hours and 7 hours is equivalent to 1st or 2nd-gen products from the early 90s. I hate to use the 'current year' argument, but I don't think it should be the case that 'good' battery life means maybe up to 15 hours with current hardware. Otherwise, you know how...- shigzeo

Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP
I think the context is that I am coming from mid to high end DAPs, where battery life usually exceeds 20 hours with strenuous use. I never got the N6ii to return better than 15 hours on a run-down test, and in mixed use, it often got less than 12 hours. I have also had it run down in 10 hours...- shigzeo
