I would go for R1s, especially if you're gonna install them in a lower profile wood cups.- Konstantin690

Grado modders go Magnum
Got a pair of their "original" PS1000e drivers, sorry but they are nowhere near the sound, pair matching and build quality of Magnum or Elleven Acoustica offerings, plus, you need to make some sort of protective shell to use them, these are 44mm raw drivers and most cups are designed to accept...- Konstantin690

Grado Modders Go Ypsilon (Elleven Acoustica drivers and builds thread)
The R1/P1 drivers are designed for L-Cushions, so no surprise. For what it's worth, not all Chinese L-Cushions sound the same, the foam density used varies.- Konstantin690

Colourfull, I like them a lot. They need plenty of hours to deliver... Have you tried L Cush?- Konstantin690

Grado modders go Magnum
Any of you guys ever heard any of the Eleven Acousticas drivers as they intended? A couple months ago I purchased a complete set of R1 drivers with RS1 Clone cups and Cable for a friends build, they did the assembly (free of charge) and sent them ready to be installed in the headband, they sound...- Konstantin690

Grado modders go Magnum
Don't want to throw poop on the whole foam driver mounting idea but I've mounted drivers in wood cups any way possible and directly press fitting the drivers into the wood cups sounds way better to my ears. The "simple" explanation I have for that difference is that when using foam strips to...- Konstantin690

Inductance is very low to affect an LCR circuit, you only need Impedance graph.- Konstantin690

Uhm.... You can't accurately measure T/S parameters on a bending wave driver such as this.- Konstantin690

Grado Modders Go Nhoord?!?!
Let me know when you find such a design from a serious headphone manufacturer. BTW, it is wrong to call this Isobaric. Isobaric needs a sealed back enclosure.- Konstantin690

Grado Modders Go Nhoord?!?!
What you measure with the multimeter is DC Resistance, audio signal is AC, drivers needs to be match in their AC Impedance curve, DC Resistance is absolutely meaningless. The drivers voice coil is also an Inductor, hence the rise in the Impedance Curve at high frequencies. By wiring drivers in...- Konstantin690

Grado Modders Go Nhoord?!?!
Drivers connected in series needs to be PERFECTLY MATCHED (which are not) if you want any decent sound. Do not waste your time, a single, good driver is all it needs.- Konstantin690

Grado Modders Go Nhoord?!?!
Assuming the drivers are 32ohm this will represent a brutal 10 ohm load to the amplifier. Isobaric is never a good idea.- Konstantin690

You are not going to accomplish what you are describing with a Grado-ish design no matter what drivers you are going to use, the chamber is to small and narrow and mainly responsible for the Grado-esque sound signature. Have a look here...- Konstantin690

"Blutacked" the driver into the cups is not a good practice IMO, you need to press fit them, the drivers frame must be in TIGHT direct contact with the wood, which requires some precision cup machining. The longer the acoustic chamber the higher in amplitude its ~2kHz resonance will be, an...- Konstantin690

Grado modders go Magnum
The mounting method of the driver is of a huge importance when trying to evaluate the different sonic character of a wood type, anything less than firmly press fitted the drivers into the wood cups and they will all sound the same. That being said, the back acoustic chamber dimensions are more...- Konstantin690

The main advantage of an Isobaric driver arrangement is that that you can reduce the cabinet volume in HALF and still maintain the low tuned frequency of a double sized box and that's in CLOSED box. For it to maintain the supposedly "reduced distortion due to linear diaphragm movement" the two...- Konstantin690
