Selfridges has Headphones to Audition!
Hi fellow UK folks. Just thought I'd let you all know that Selfridges has a very decent range of headphones in a dedicated headphone area of their store in Birmingham (I'm assuming the same in London as well). It's only been there 6 weeks or so but the staff seemed knowledgable and willing to...- tinseljim

CEntrance DACmini DAC/Amplifier Official Thread
Just in case you missed it the DACmini just won a Blue Moon award on 6moons: http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/centrance/1.html Brilliant, though doesn't say a lot about the Head-Fi angle and how it compares to others. I did skim read though so could have missed it.- tinseljim

Would a dedicated DAC be an upgrade from an audio interface?
Hmmm...same question here. Many say the SQ from the CakeWalk unit is really good so could be interesting. Price is certainly attractive!- tinseljim

Quote: first of all this is an iPhone 4 SQ forum and your post compares the n91 to an iPhone 3GS. second of all the wikipedia article links to out of date forums on the subject - hardly critical proof that it 'smashes' the iPhone 4 sq. third of all it's not flat so it doesn't...- tinseljim

I too hear a little bit of hiss with my Fidelity Custom Triples (similar but cheaper than the ES3X) and the iPhone 4 hp out. But it is *little*- tinseljim

Has anyone tried the Burson Audio HA160D with it? Seems like the 6moons guys think it's the one to beat - even better than the Weiss! Would love to know if others agree with Srajan or if it's just a one off?- tinseljim

An Attempt at a Review of the Fidelity Triples
I hate to cross post but I just wanted to make sure that people also heard a positive view as well. I don't work for Fidelity etc. etc. I have to say that I love my fidelity triples! At first they sounded horrible and similar to my apple earbuds. But after burn-in (a bit of brain and...- tinseljim

Livewires - California Dreamin'
I have fidelity triples and they're amazing. If you look through the reviews (long enough) you'll see some comparing their sound to the ES3X. I find them ruler-flat; for some they may seem bass light with little sparkle. If the recording is well engineered/mastered then you hear all the...- tinseljim

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: NEW Nuforce uDAC-2 with 24/96 - USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out
Quote: I posted a picture a while back...plug an RCA to hp jack (male) into a female-female hp jack and voila. of course you could make/find a RCA to female hp jack adaptor (but these are harder to find). The hiss is completely gone with my fairly sensitive IEMs and I would imagine the...- tinseljim

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: NEW Nuforce uDAC-2 with 24/96 - USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out
To help take at least one cat away from the pigeons....if you want to get rid of any noise/hiss try this : 1) Attach an 1/8th inch to RCA adaptor to the RCA-outs at the back. 2) add a female to female adaptor to the 1/8th inch plug. 3) Plug your headphones into the female-female...- tinseljim

It does look to be in stock: http://estore.nuforce.com/products/Icon-uDAC-to-uDac2-Upgrade.html But just when I was going to pull the trigger I saw the above comments about the tone...so I may wait until there is more 'feedback.' Wouldn't be an issue if I didn't live in the UK.- tinseljim

I spent the better part of an afternoon comparing the iPhone 4 hp out with the uDac hp out. The conclusion I came to was that with IEMs there is barely any difference. One moment I'd prefer one then next I'd prefer the other...no winner. So with IEMs there would be no need for wishing the camera...- tinseljim

Burn-in continues I see... I wasn't the biggest believer in burn-in for speakers either until i got my current custom IEMs. i mentioned it in another post but they sounded like poop when i first got them - i even preferred my apple earbuds . i guess no one knows how much burn-in is...- tinseljim

I still think we need to wait until burn-in is complete before making any really firm conclusions. I don't honestly know how much burn-in will be required for it but I assume a minimum of 48 hrs. and up to 300 hrs. It has an amp and a dac inside it and both will need time to settle - that is if...- tinseljim
