OK, just searched again and those higher prices have now vanished. Weird. Happy to still see them at $399 in US and Scan still advertise them at £399 in UK.- Kane Williams

Audeze MM-100
I am now seeing $549 and $599 prices being quoted. Older posts say $399. Do we think they will now sell for more than the original $399?- Kane Williams

Audeze MM-100
If a company is to cut corners to hit a price point, surely they choose the areas they think is the least impacted. They could have used plastic parts and gone with removable pads I guess and maybe that would have been better to some, but others would have moaned about that too. I like to think...- Kane Williams

I'd probably think they are awesome too and I'm 50! lol I have been offered a used pair of Ananda's (Stealth versions I belive - checking) for £235. They have a crack in the cup that I'd hope to glue back together, but I'm not sure if to grab these for wait for the reviews etc of the MM100 and...- Kane Williams

SXPro in UK are advertising them at £449.99, which seems a bit unfair, when $399 actually translates to about £320. I was expecting £399.00, as this is the norm.- Kane Williams

HiFi Trends also say 10Hz - 50kHz, so this must have been mentioned in some press release at some time. I wonder if they decided to say the are 20Hz to 25kHz now just so people don't start to think they are being over charged for the MM500's?- Kane Williams

Scan UK show the MM100 Frequency response to be 20Hz to 25kHz. I wonder which is correct?- Kane Williams

RSE Tube Headphone Amplifier
Hello, Just wanted to give some attention to a new headphone amp by a Ukrainian company called RSE. I bought some pro audio gear from Roman (RSE) and he has since become a friend of mine. I have not tried this headphone amp, but the impedance matching selector I find most interesting. I can...- Kane Williams

iFi Audio Nano iDSD discussion + impression
That is what iFi state yes. I cannot say for sure I have noticed a difference. However, i use a split USB cable that has the data and the power separated (using two ports on the laptop), so this MAY help if the power coming from the computer is not as clean as from the internal battery of the iDSD.- Kane Williams

iFi Audio Nano iDSD discussion + impression
Yes, if you don’t have the DAC switched on before you connect it to the computer it will run from the USB port when you switch it on. The quality is marginally improved when run from its own battery apparently.- Kane Williams

Lake People G109 / G103 thread
Does anyone know where the G93 would fit in the line up? I know it's discontinued now, but would this be lower down the line to the G103/G105/G109 as the naming convention would suggest? I realise it has a fixed power cable, but parts/sound wise how does it compare?- Kane Williams

Woo Audio Amp Owner Unite
On the Dynamic Range Database (http://dr.loudness-war.info/) I have some of the albums (downloads) they say have high DR. Using Mastering The Mix Expose software, I can confirm similar readings to what they get, however, in Expose, there are two measurements for DR, the first is for short term...- Kane Williams

G&W TW-J9 Headphone amp. 1st impressions
Reviving this very old thread. I am still using the headphone amp and still think it's good. I recently used it with ATH - R70X's and AKG K7XX and it works well with both. I have yet to take pictures of the internals, but I am going to, as I'd still like advice on any worthwhile simple mods.- Kane Williams

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
How is your laptop connected to the Magni, does it have a line out from the laptop? If you are using the headphone output, you are using the headphone amp in the laptop as well as the external one, which kind of defeats the object of an external amp. Also, if the volume control is digital, you...- Kane Williams

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
Actually the HD4XX is $169 and the Monoprice is $300, which is almost 80% more not 45%. 80% of $169 is $135. If something doubles in price, that is a 100% increase not a 50% increase. In any case, thanks a lot for your insight. I really do want the M1060. The 4XX uses the housing of the 400 and...- Kane Williams

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
The Massdrop/HiFiman HE4XX (based on the 400i) at only $169 seems like a great deal to me, but I think I was already advised on here that the M1060 is better, but it is 70% more expensive of course.- Kane Williams

Do any of you guys use Sonarworks for equalizing? Basically, it is designed to make any headphones sound "reference", it is not designed for personal preference EQ settings.- Kane Williams

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
Is the bass accurate on the M1060? I mix music with my AKG K7XX and my mixes are turning out well balanced and I have worked out how to get a decent low end now but it would be great to have a set of headphones that really tell me what is going on in the bottom end.- Kane Williams

OK, so Monoprice are now in the UK. "Yes", I thought, I will be able to get some M1060's with no import duty and VAT. The price £335! So, probably about the same price as importing them. Just can't afford that, will have to get an American friend to bring some over next time they visit.- Kane Williams
