Urbanears?
So, what happened? Did you buy them? I'm thinking of getting a white plattan for a friend of mine as a gift, because they look beautiful, but it would be a good thing if they also sound decent....- ca95f

Avatar The Movie
It's not just about entertainment. I'm fed up with all those "intellectuals" bashing the movie, just because it was a massive hit. Think about it. "Citizen Kane" and "Casablanca" were great movies, I agree. But in the end of they day, one has to wonder what movies had the most profound effect...- ca95f

Song That Stucks in Your Head at the Moment?

How are gold plated cable better than the normal ones?
If there was any gold in these plugs, our wives would be wearing them around their necks... Just like Dave mentions, it is supposed to be better because it does not get oxidized. Otherwise, as far as I remember, silver is the most conductive metal, followed by copper and then by gold. But...- ca95f

It's official... iPad!!
If only there was a usb port on it... So far, it seems like an oversized ipod touch/iphone. I'm still all pros for buying an HP touchsmart for my music server / jukebox.- ca95f

iPad dedicated music server
Get yourself an HP touchsmart. A real computer with an ASIO capable spdif coax out that can rip your discs with its blu-ray / DVD and has a gorgeous huge multitouch screen. You can also get a good piece of software like AlbumPlayer or Silverjuke and handle music over a local network.- ca95f

Saddest day of my life - Cosmo, the kitty in my avatar, passed away yesterday...(pics - 56k warning)
Very sorry for your loss. Cosmo was a beautiful cat. I adore cats too. I love their character. In my experience, the best way to smooth the pain, is to adopt a new one. It might take some time, but soon, all the love you want to give and can't anymore, will find it's way... My last cat...- ca95f

REVIEW: HLLY DMK-IV DAC / headphone amp / pre-amp)
Skylab, everything I've bought is entirely based on your reviews. So far you haven't let me down. Everything you liked, I liked. Truth is, I so wanted this little machine to be good. I even started designing my own "jukebox" case for this. Well, I guess for me DIY is the only way left. I hoped...- ca95f

My Computer is Now the Weakest Link
Currently, I'm drooling over an HP Touchsmart, or an MSI-AE2220 with multitouch screen and digital out, running an ASIO capable software like Albumplayer that supports touchscreen functions. Albumplayer, plays everything (flac, ape etc) and it's very very cool running it on a touchscreen.- ca95f

$50-75 IEM's with low/little Microphonic Conduction aka cord noise
For microphonics, you should use a small cable clamp and secure it on you t-shirt neck collar - it eliminates most of it. The RE0 comes with one in the box.- ca95f

The Best audiophile tracks to test equipment
I prefer to use purely acoustic tracks. My favorite is "Moon Run" by Trapezoid Amazon.com: Moon Run: Trapezoid: Music. Excellent recording, perfect balance and most of all, a most beautiful piece of music. I also use "Liquid Amber" by Lawrence Juber - The version from the "Sounds of Wood and... -

Lampizator in a box
And he's not that wrong about hi-end makers selling unmodified or very slightly modified commercial equipment at ridiculously higher prices (as Golgmund and Lexicon have proved)... In need of new full size portables
How 'bout a full size foldable? The Ultrasone HFI-650 is on sale for 70 euros here (originally a 200+ euro headphone). It punches as much thunderous bass as you can (but probably can't) handle.- ca95f
