Hope this help you to explain Hi-Res music to your CD friends

Finally! - an audiophile cable design individualized to the owner’s face. Better patent that before someone in the Cables, Power tweaks, and Unicorns section of the forum finds this and beats you to market…

Hope this help you to explain Hi-Res music to your CD friends

It’s situational. When calculating the trajectory of a rocket launching a payload intended to reach a distant comet, the variance may matter. When discussing virtually any topic related to audible audio reproduction, the difference is completely irrelevant so can be considered the same. You...

(Piezoelectric) Crystals, Hifi and Negative Ions...

There is a very large thread elsewhere on the forum where dozens of people are taking it seriously and have posted descriptions/pictures of their DIY devices. It would be nice if we didn’t allow the same folks to come here and see the existence of posts supporting those devices as supporting...

Good luck blathering your way out of a voided insurance policy. Speaking for myself, I can’t imagine risking my and my family’s safety and/or voiding my insurance over snake oil, but you do you. You can take it from here - I have a personal 3 post maximum for engaging trolls and I’ve reached...

(Piezoelectric) Crystals, Hifi and Negative Ions...

Good luck explaining that to your insurance company. I’m sure they’ll be very understanding… I didn’t say that a DIY ground box would start a fire, but if an uncertified device is being used, it is going to be an issue if you need to make a claim. Same for the rocket surgeons posting about...

(Piezoelectric) Crystals, Hifi and Negative Ions...

That thread should be retitled to “How to void your homeowners/renters insurance” If someone with one of those absurd and uncertified devices has a fire that can be in any way linked to their electrical system, they likely won’t be seeing any financial compensation from their insurer. That...

Austrian Audio "The Composer" : mini review

It doesn't matter to me either. That was just a correction to the OP's claim that the Composer was an Austrian and German product when it is exclusively Austrian

    Reference playback

Every track requires the CPU to do something, compressed or not. The thought that a modern computer sees any kind of impactful load from decompressing audio is outdated by approximately 2 decades. I'm not familiar with the technical term "hyperspaz", but assure you that decompressing any...

Fascinating talk at CanJam this year

I’m sure he does know those things, but he consistently and willfully misrepresents the audibility of what he’s measuring in order to sell product to those that don’t have the background to understand that. Human hearing may be variable, but it isn’t unlimited - if his claim required 2x of the...

How do you measure sound stage?

It’s actually partially understandable. Advertising vendors provide the capital a large site like head-fi needs to pay for operations. As much as I don’t like it, posts that get too far into questioning the claims of those vendors and their customers certainly don’t make they paying vendors...

How do you measure sound stage?

You’re uneccesarily creating conflict in a discussion where others are trying to find some common ground. I posted that as an observation and stand by it. Hardly a personal attack, that’s an evidence based comment. Edit, not sure why the quote feature didn’t work here, but his is a response...

How do you measure sound stage?

Disappointingly, it largely is. To the point at which the title of the Cables Subforum has “DBT free” in the forum title. And from personal experience, I can tell you that I’ve had many posts deleted outside of sound science for discussing factual, peer reviewed data that doesn’t align with...

How do you measure sound stage?

How is this helping? Is it not possible to continue with what’s been a refreshingly civil discussion over the last handful of posts?

How do you measure sound stage?

No argument with you on this. IMO, Bigshot creates as much conflict here as those he accuses of the same. We recently had a nice quiet few months here with reasonable conversation. Now correlation isn’t necessarily causation, but the quiet period aligned with a paucity of his posts.

How do you measure sound stage?

Only if I choose to accept the generalization and/or see myself as a member of that group. Those options don’t exist with direct personal attacks. I can always tell myself that the insult was directed at a shade of blue I don’t wear. It’s a fine line, but also an important distinction.

How do you measure sound stage?

Actually, there is a difference between commentary about a group and directly insulting a named member. “I think people who wear blue shirts are dumb” is quite different than “bfreedma is dumb”. I can choose to ignore/not associate myself with the former, while the latter is clear and directed.

How do you measure sound stage?

There’s a difference between observations made about a general population vs. personal attacks directed against named individual members.

How do you measure sound stage?

Probably for the best. The discussion can always be picked up if the OP provides any evidence supporting their position.

How do you measure sound stage?

Until you can rule out placebo effect via a valid testing model, there is no point in discussing other possibilities. Start there.

How do you measure sound stage?

Um, no. Please spend a few hours learning about digital data transmission and error correction - it will (hopefully) get you out of this loop you're stuck in trying to rationalize what you believe is happening and give you at least a baseline for how these technology implementations work.

How do you measure sound stage?

Once again, you're ignoring the built in Error Correction in these data transfers. Please do some reading on how this actually works, because how you "believe" it works is not correct. Only two things are technically possible here" The error correction works as intended/needed and the...

How do you measure sound stage?

Sorry, but there’s a zero point zero percent chance that any of those hard drives/transports result in different audio output. It’s an absurd claim, so unless you have actual evidence to share, let’s move on. Data in transit from those (or any modern storage device) utilizes error correction...

How do you measure sound stage?

I don't have to guess. There is a specific model these technologies must follow and that model doesn't allow for the variability you claim. So we either believe you have a unique scenario that violates 4 decades plus of known digital processing standards, or the differences don't actually...

How do you measure sound stage?

All of the data from all of those drives follows an error correction model that entirely precludes your conclusions. You are making a claim that would literally force the redefinition of how digital data is stored and recovered. I say with a great deal of confidence that any and all...

How do you measure sound stage?

How did you account for the numerous buffers that the data goes through after USB and before processing? There is almost zero possibility that different USB and/or other connections "sound" different. The amount of data coming across from the disk to the PC is a tiny fraction of the capacity...
