Best Releases of Karajan on CD
@godbluff Out of the hundreds of DG releases, I am trying to find which remasters and releases specifically had the best sound quality. Are there any databases or forums where people post reviews of specific remasters of the same recordings?- bflatfinesse

Best Releases of Karajan on CD
@EDN80 My initial research shows that The Originals series you recommended for the Bruckner was not as good of a remastering as the earlier CD releases in the 1980s. Can you shed more light on this?- bflatfinesse

Best Releases of Karajan on CD
There are so many analog to digital transfers of Karajan's recordings, can anyone direct me to specific albums, collections, or even record labels that did the best job of remastering and transferring to CD format? Any help is appreciated.- bflatfinesse

I would go beyond saying they are unreasonable for the price/sound quality ratio. I would say they are garbage at any price.- bflatfinesse

CD Ripping Clarification
So most of the advantages come with ripping older CDs that may not be in the best condition right? If I were ripping a brand new CD, there would be no possibilities of error?- bflatfinesse

CD Ripping Clarification
Hello, After doing some research on this website, it seems like many people recommend using CD ripping programs such as EAC. Until now, I have been using itunes to rip my CDs to AIFF format. Does itunes not provide bit-perfect ripping? And will it make a difference to switch to a...- bflatfinesse

AudioQuest Dragonfly Review : Affordable, Outstanding, Tiny DAC / Amp
An excerpt from a Stereophile review: "The sonic differences between the original and v1.2 DragonFlys were almost as obvious as those between the Sennheiser Momentum and B&W P3 on-ear headphones. Where the original DragonFly excelled in clarity and detail, v1.2 added a richer, more colorful...- bflatfinesse

AudioQuest Dragonfly Review : Affordable, Outstanding, Tiny DAC / Amp
From the website: "Among the improvements, the circuitry between the DAC chip and the analog output stage has been refined to create a more direct signal path, leading to even greater transparency and immediacy. Also, the DAC’s power supply has been fortified, which gives the sound more “grip,”...- bflatfinesse

Best Solution?
Sennheiser makes the PXC450. Never tried it but a lot of people seem to like it. I feel that around-ear headphones are more comfortable than IEMs for extended periods of time.- bflatfinesse

HELP!! new(ish) member seeks help for music.
This is starting to sway from the original topic, but higher resolution audio does more than increase the frequency range. When you change from mp3 to AIFF for instance, the soundstage will open up quite noticeably.- bflatfinesse

HELP!! new(ish) member seeks help for music.
I agree with saxelrod92. Bandcamp has some artists, and the option to download FLAC, but for mainstream artists you're probably gonna have to buy the CD and rip it. I also agree about the music player software. If you are planning on playing hi-rez file formats and/or planning on buying a DAC...- bflatfinesse

HELP!! new(ish) member seeks help for music.
Unfortunately, the main audience of the music you listen to does not care about sound quality, especially since most popular music can be illegally downloaded for free. Classical music, jazz, and rock seem to find the biggest support for high quality files (try listening to orchestral music at...- bflatfinesse

AudioQuest Dragonfly Review : Affordable, Outstanding, Tiny DAC / Amp
It really depends on the individual equipment you are thinking about buying more than the comparison of separate vs built in amp. I currently use the Dragonfly with the Little Dot Mk V, a solid state amplifier, and I get great results. (The LD mkV works great with the HD 600 btw). Also...- bflatfinesse

There are plenty of reviews and discussion posts about the M50s on this website alone. Do some research and see if its for you. Also I'm sure you can find a store that has a floor model to test out, they are becoming increasingly popular.- bflatfinesse

Closed headphones for <$200
I think the Audio Technica M50s are worth looking into. Because they are monitor headphones, the sound is very neutral and the bass is incredibly accurate. The overall sound quality is good, and it does a good job with all genres. It is also collapsible, and can withstand a lot of abuse due...- bflatfinesse

Portable DACs vs Desktop DACs
I used the search tool and could not find much specific information pertaining to this subject. I am in the market for a DAC for use at home, so portability is not a factor. Headphones Recommendation for College Student
I would say for college or any environment where you are moving around a lot, build quality is a top priority. I have used the M50s for two years in college, and they have stood up to the beating.
