I've just noticed that they have come up with this newly released loveable hi-res app lately. They offer the upgrade to the users who had purchased the 1.x version before the 1st of August for $39, which of course there are quite a number of people ranting in the Audirvana FB page.

There are quite a lot of improvements, particularly the new design that looks similar to iTunes and the gorgeous album cover thumbnails view. But the important thing is all about the SQ, the main reason why we are choosing this app. I mean, if this version is worth throwing another $39 at it. I've done the A/B testing between the v.2.0 and the 1.5.12 and can't hear any difference yet. I don't think I'm going to upgrade this for a while, since the SQ is my main concern and the new version can't really deliver that 'wow' to me.

Please feel free to share your thought about this improvements.

I'm a registered user but I won't be upgrading either. The new release seems rushed. There's plenty of stuff & options missing and it feels like a beta product (if that). It feels like an unfinished product that needs quite a bit of work yet. Charging $39 for this upgrade is just laughable.

I bought a new copy to support the developer (being one myself) however I don't like A2+ and have gone back to A1+.

For me the SQ was not as good, I couldn't work out what had gone wrong in my system and started changing valves etc, it was that much of a problem. The sound was harsh and a little compressed. The database management feature is not a big deal for me.

I preferred the drag and drop file option of A1. Apparently the developer is going to work on the SQ in a future release. He stated over at CA that improving SQ was not on his list of priorities for this 1st release of A2.

Frankly I don't care about the music database management feature as much as I do about the SQ. I suspect I am not alone.

Selling a product where certain aspects are unfinished, yet "not on the developer's list of priorities" does not sit right with me. I thought the 1.* series showed a lot of potential, which is why I registered. I was shocked when the developer removed functionality without so much as mentioning it on the forums (proxy files)... This is not how you treat your paying customers and quite frankly, this in itself makes me think twice about buying the upgrade (even if the upgrade would be finished or even worth it).
What if the developer removes functionality (that I have come to rely on) again, without so much as asking his paying customers? I think I'll rather spend it on a product where the developers DO listen to their users (JRiver).

I have a lot to say about JRiver MC (on OSX), don't get me started, but I like to be appreciated and taken seriously as a customer, so I'll vey likely will be spending my money on their product.

I don't understand why remove the drag and drop feature that was in A1 without mentioning it??

I have gone back to A2 this morning and it updated to 2.01, maybe its the coffee, but I am pretty sure it sounds better, the harshness has gone. Having said that it was probably me all along that and the valves burning in.

Sometimes this hobby makes me doubt my sanity!

I've tried the v.2.0.1 and found that it has some problem with some sort of codec or playback - it increases the speed of some songs to like 200-300%!!!!!

Please let me know if anyone experiencing the same problem as I am.

Nope no issues, what sort of files are you trying to play?

Yeah other than supporting the developer, I really don't see any reason to upgrade...my system works great with i Tunes at the front end (remote control feature on i Devices is great), and unless there is some underlying improvement in audio processing it seems to be cosmetic only. Izotope, etc., have not changed as far as I'm aware.

Strange...my demo Audi2.0 sounded much much clearer...on my dt150 at least.:)

$39 for the brand new design and fancy file management. I'd wait for something new and stable enough to throw the money in, but not at this moment.

I went ahead and spent my money on JRiver MediaCenter 20 for Mac. I tried a trial for a long time, and even extended my trial period to see if Audirvana wouldn't convince me after all. In the end, MediaCenter offers so much more and I realized Audirvana has such a long way to go just to catch up.

MC's network connectivity in itself makes it so much fun to use but there are tons of other features, which, each in itself makes the choice a no-brainer really. Well, to me anyway.
How about real time pcm->dsd(64 or 128) conversion, iPod/iPhone support (converting to whichever supported format you want on it, on the fly), Android/iOS/Web remote, DLNA server, ISO support (shows and plays individual tracks off of your SACD ISO's), and the list goes on and on

You sound very convincing! :)
How does JRiver sound comparing with Audirvana?
