The Wizard Appreciation Thread - Long Live the Wizard - The former HA Appreciation Thread
Quote: I'm considering clearing out my other IEM's and adding the 3.Ai to my 4.Ai. Given how much I enjoyed the W3 for workouts, the 3.Ai might take it's place. Once I hear the 4.Ai, I'll know whether or not I can resist the temptation.- JoeyRusso

LF: IEM Version of AKG's Q701
Quote: Agreed.. Nothing like the Q.. The e-Q5 was probably closest. The B2 is similar but a little too dry and lacks the bass of the Q's. The GR07 was also close. The pfe112 was very similar as well. None of them capture the Q's soundstage or overall flavor but they come closer than...- JoeyRusso

Fender IEM (Aurisonics) Impressions, Reviews & Discussions Thread
Quote: There are many great articles/sites out there that explain how the ear works, but here is one with some interesting info: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar11/articles/how-the-ear-works.htm A truly flat frequency response would end up sounding mid-forward due to the way...- JoeyRusso

VSONIC GR07 Impressions Thread
Quote: Having owned both (although not at the same time), that's a no brainer for me.. Hint... I no longer own the TF-10's. I couldn't stand their "Frankenstein" like fit, lack of comfort, recessed mids or the artificial sounding highs. Just my opinion...- JoeyRusso

Quote: Well that's good to hear.. I ordered the K450 this evening after spending only an hour with the K422.. The 422's were well worth the money and I look forward to hearing the 450's. The 422's will be a nice intro to portable music for my friends that don't like IEM's.- JoeyRusso

A Sensational, Fantastic, And Simply Amazing New Binaural Album By Chesky!
I downloaded this last week and was mostly impressed. My daughter got a kick out of the Test tracks, especially the left/right tracks. She ripped the headphones off her head and said: "Wow, that's creepy".. lol- JoeyRusso

I want a soundstage that sounds "epic". Everything I've tried is distant, hollow, muffled, etc...
I'm not sure that "Epic soundstage" and IEM belong in a sentence together. Grand, maybe.. Expansive, perhaps.. but not epic. That's asking a lot from a small enclosure that sits in your ear canal, so close to your eardrum. Vented dynamic IEM's seem to do a better job, but most still fall...- JoeyRusso

Schiit Lyr - The tube rolling thread
Instead of the usual ranting about poor customer service, I thought I'd share a positive experience for a change. A while back I ordered two pair of Amperex tubes, a pair of Orange Globes and a pair of Bugle Boys. The Orange globes were perfect and sounded fantastic. The Bugle boys...- JoeyRusso
