Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
Sorry for late reply to those that answered my query on differences between SE846 and K10, thank you!!....understandable if Noble won't go through with black Friday deal this year...I'm fine with the se846 for now, but as soon as the deal comes available, in the checkout basket the k10 goes, i'm...- monoboy

Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
hehe I think it does boil down to taste aswell, also the style of music would be a massive deciding factor - electronic, dubstep, trance just sounds flat out amazing with the se846!! Ashame about the cable, you got a spare stock cable around?- monoboy

hey, dunno if i entirely agree with you, ironically what your saying is that hes flat out ignoring me based on that my question has no relevance? Speculation ofcourse, but if so that is actually quite rude of him! Even a simple reply with 'No, sorry i dont have any experience with Whiplash...- monoboy

I had asked him some questions about the stock/whiplash cable, no point now as i no longer have the ref 1, just felt like i had spent a fortune on his iem, and he just dropped off the radar! I'm sure he's busy with other stuff, but little things like this will get to me a little :) no worries...- monoboy

Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
thanks man! I knew i needed the se846 when Warrior1975 kindly loaned me his set, just seriously was like WOW, so much clearer then Ref 1's, the bass is ALOT better defined, mids are are upfront and lush (ref 1 is recessed a little). Ref 1 sounds a little bloated and not as clear, a little...- monoboy

Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
So reading behind a few pages (and warrior1975 mentioned to me) about the black filter mod, which I tried with my black filters today. Real easy taking out the little pieces of foam! The high end is extended dramatically which surprised me whilst retaining the bottom end (seems deeper as well)...- monoboy

That's true, however, I cant help but feel I'm losing out on perfect seal without going custom. In any event whether I would sell the ref 1's or not if I do go custom i'm not sure at this point. But there is a London show happening in november which I'll most likely attend and try out...- monoboy

Whiplash Audio's new TWau Reference wire
Will this pair nicely with the Tralucent Ref 1??? Very interested! The twag v3 & twcu v3 hybrid might be a better option for iem's? I also use the Hifiman hm901 with iem amp card, not up on my homework with balanced connections etc. any info is appreciated :)- monoboy

Unfortunately there is no sound on the left side of my Ref 1, I believe it to be the cable, if I wiggle the 3.5 jack the sound will come back for a few seconds then cuts out again. Have contacted Gavin, see what will happen now... UPDATE: Gavin having a replacement cable sent, should receive...- monoboy

Great article, further convinces me of burn in. Although I'll agree that it may only be evident on certain types of iem/headphones (which flymetothemoon describes below) I only wish I had the know how to conduct tests myself. My ref 1's sound nothing like how they were out of the box, or...- monoboy

Burn in for me is deffintly real, whether it's a load of nonsense doesn't really matter, if it's only my brain adjusting then that's cool, for my belief system I think it's down to burn in, I suppose brain and burn in believers will reach the same results anyway :D. I'll go on to say that...- monoboy

Thx man :) I havent heard the 1Plus2's, very interesting to know that, in a way I think if the treble was any brighter it may cause fatigue over a long session, Ref 1 can be left in my ears all day long. But without listening to the 1Plus2 I couldnt say if I would prefer them, perhaps one day...- monoboy
