Product suggestion:   Pre-amp or integrated amp with analog bass management and Home Theater pass-through.   Not a lot to choose from out there right now - three offerings from Parasound (P7, P5, Halo Integrated) and ...?

I wonder how many of you who said "sounds like fingernails down a chalkboard" are actually saying that literally? Really, her album is one of the worst engineered albums I have ever heard, but i think she has a great voice. What were her sound engineers thinking? Hurts my ears to listen...

I did read somewhere recently that the British LP was *much, much* better - here's hoping that there's some truth in that. I can only listen to the U.S. CD it in my car...

So were you Brits in this thread confirming that your domestic CD release of Back to Black is terrible as well? I have ordered the UK LP and hope that it's better (plus, it has 'Addicted' on it where the US CD release does not...).

I have some old cables around that I would like to hack up and try to frankenstein myself a balanced cable for my hd580s to connect to the balanced xlr outputs on my apogee minidac. Does anyone have a schematic of what that would look like?

What is the best way to feed the DAC1? My options are: PCM Output - [48KHz, 96KHz] Upsampling - ["OFF","96 KHz(24-bit)","192 KHz(24-bit)"] Or are these all settings that would only effect the Philips' internal DAC...? Thanks. (using coax out w/ Stereovox HDXV cable)
