Westone ES-5: Chasing Neutral Eq settings - thread update 1.3.15
Thanks for contributing too! I totally agree that changing one frequency can drastically change how you perceive the others, but I believe this is usually an effect of how we mentally filter and process our senses. If one recognizes a frequency range and pays attention to it, one can hear...- Zalken

Westone ES-5: Chasing Neutral Eq settings - thread update 1.3.15
Here's mine: Freq (Hz), Gain (dB), Q 170,-4.0,0.6 1980, -3.0, 2 3682, -1.5, 3.5 3800, 2.5, 7 4313, 4.5, 3.5 4750, 2.5, 2 5365, -2, 5.5 7500, -3, 9 7600, 4, 3 It's by no means perfect and it definitely takes the warm roundness out of the ES5, but overall I feel...- Zalken

Westone ES-5: Chasing Neutral Eq settings - thread update 1.3.15
Kept trying out your ES5 measurements for a little more than a month - I like what you did with the rockbox. However, when using your EQ settings with better source such as my desktop setup (Audio-GD DI-V3>Anedio D1), I still think you are forgetting to attenuate frequencies past 4000Hz. There...- Zalken

Westone ES-5: Chasing Neutral Eq settings - thread update 1.3.15
I tried out the rockbox EQ for about 30 mins today - the -7.5 dB drop at 200 seems a little drastic and makes my headphones sound a little thin- Zalken

I'm using Fab-Filter Pro-Q with Foobar 2k Also the 7180 Hz entry should have a gain of 1.5, not 3.0 (a typo)- Zalken

Some clarification needed - does the 7,4,2,1,7 represent the Q values of each peak respectively? If so, I found the sound of the curve fun but it compressed the sound stage quite a bit and colored the sound. I shall try late on my rockbox give you my impressions on that device. ...- Zalken

First Impressions: NFB-3 vs Stello DA100 (The amazing ACSS connection)
So, I just received my Stello DA100 and while I think it is an amazing DAC, it made me realize how ridiculously good NFB-3 to C2 AMP via ACSS is. The NFB-3 connected via RCA to the C2 amp is no match for DA100 connected to the C2 via RCA. However, the sonic difference between connecting...- Zalken

What headphones have the same type of sound as the Sennheiser IE8 earphones?
I personally have owned D2000s, and D5000s with D7000 cups as well as the IE8s (all at once) I find that the bass of the Denons are far more satisfying, providing a head rumbling experience at louder volumes. Soundstage isn't that great on the Denons. The treble between the 2...- Zalken

Monster Turbine Challenge - Reviewers Wanted!
I'd be interested - I listen to mostly rock, electronic, and classical. My current source is the NFB3, my HP amp is the Audio GD C2 (connceted via ACSS) I currently own the Sennheiser IE8 and Klipsch X5 as far as IEMs go. I'm getting a pair of HE-5s soon. And my speaker setup is Adam...- Zalken

Problem solved
So, I recently found my IE8s lying in juice I dried them out and tried to get as much juice out of them as possible - then I left them in a jar of rice for several hours. I'm using them right now and...well at least it works. However I'm a little worried there is still...- Zalken

D2000/D5000/D7000 unamped (sorry!)
If you plan on buying an amp for you denon's, I would suggest you look into spending your money on a DAC before you get an amp I got an Audio GD NFB-3 (DAC) and later got a Audio GD C2 (Amp) - both cost around $350 for me, and 350 spent on the source was did so much more than the 350 spent...- Zalken
