anyone use iPhone w/ portable amp + Ety-4s ?
Thanks for this info. iPhone uses Wolfson WM8758 audio codec chip, same as the one used in iPod video. So the sound quality should be similar.- varunku

ER4 passed away?
I had a similar problem with my ETY-4p, the left earpiece stopped working, and my 2 warranty period had expired. I send the unit to Etymotic and they send me a new one for $50 (+$6 shipping). In my case the transducer was bad on left ear piece, and the wires were worn out.- varunku

Who else prefers the Etymotics over the Shures?
I prefer Ety-4s as compared to shure, Ety is more comfortable to wear and excellent detail, and the quality of phone is better than shure.- varunku

ER4 passed away?
I own a E2c and a ety-4s [ with the converter cable], I feel that there is a huge difference in sound quality between both these headphones. Ety-4s is a much better the Shure E2c.- varunku

Another ER-4P vs E4C question
I have a Ety4-p/s and a Shure E3c, I would say go for a Ety4 if you have a external amp. You might not need a amp for a ety4p with iPod. Ety4s sounds a lot better than Shure E3c . I don't have a E4c so I can't compare them.- varunku

Pictures of your Portable Rig
Illiad, There is lot of difference in sound quality with the supermicro amp, this amp has 50 ohm resistor in it [ acording to Xin ], so ety-4p is almost equal to the sound quality of ety-4s.- varunku
