Yes, this is true. I switched sleeves from my Triple-fi's. Now, My Triple-fi's are way more comfortable and my marshmallows sounds great also. Great budget canal phones, indeed.

The only portable amp that I used and considered warm sounding, was the RS SR71. Non portable, I use the Heed from Canamp. I find this amp very warm sounding.
