Idea: CMOY and iPod nano in one tin?
this is a super cool idea. you can look here for a step by step disassembly of the ipod touch nano. If you can remove the jacks in both the nano and cmoy, and directly connect the line out wire to the cmoy input, you can create a apple driven DAP with superior sound. Another idea to add, if...- stratowhammy

Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!
It seems that conversation has definitely evolved well past my cork mod, but I just wanted to comment that after about 40 more hours of burn in the sound has gotten even more relaxed. They obviously don't have the soundstage of my hd580s because they are closed back (especially with the cork in...- stratowhammy

Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!
I'll admit, I haven't read all 8561 posts, however, on one of the mod pages someone mentioned cork and it was dismissed. After installing cork rounds the sound is nicer, rounder and less shrill. I cut out two rounds of cork, each one being about 1/16". They are pretty thin so the bent nicely...- stratowhammy

Zero Dac/Amp with all discrete opamps
Hi, I have a zero dac/amp and I'm currently pretty happy with the opamp setup I have, the DAC section has an LM4562 and the headphone outs have LT1364s in them. I know a lot of people have used discrete opamps in the DAC section (like the audio-gd 'Moon' or 'Sun'), but I was wondering if there...- stratowhammy

Little Dot 1+ with LM4562 and Blackgate NX Hi-Q --- why?
Thank you for your thoughts... Why would someone do it then? The main thing is that my amp is safe *phew* AND it sounds fantastic ... I highly recommend this opamp over the opa2107 (unless I have a fake, in which case I don't know how it sounds) - the opa2107 is more forward and punchier, but i...- stratowhammy

Little Dot 1+ with LM4562 and Blackgate NX Hi-Q --- why?
I found this mod for the Little Dot I+ with the LM4562 being used as the opamp. Apparently this guy soldered Blackgate NX Hi-Q .1uF/50v resistor (at least I think its a resistor) to the actual opamp. What are the benefits/why would someone do this? Any thoughts ... ... my main concern...- stratowhammy

Mod These Phones! (Monoprice "Premium Hi-Fi DJ Style Over-the-Ear Pro Headphone")
No, they aren't flimsy. They are plastic, but its pretty solid. My only complaint about the stock build is that the padding is smaller than I'd prefer, I'm thinking about dicing it up a little to see if I can get a broader surface for my ears. Generally, the only complaint I had about these...- stratowhammy

Mod These Phones! (Monoprice "Premium Hi-Fi DJ Style Over-the-Ear Pro Headphone")
So I bought these headphones a while back figuring, $25 after shipping was something worth investing in even a mediocre pair of headphones, and they've been sitting around my house for a while. The other day I got the bug to mod them, they have 50mm drivers which I figured have to be useful in...- stratowhammy

Shure SRH-840 Recable Mod
RIGHT ON BROTHA! Ugly or not, you modded the *stuffing* out of those bad boys, and for that I salute you! I actually wanted to do the same exact mod on mine, but I didn't have the man bits to pull it off. I eventually messed with these cans so much that on one of my mods I actually punctured...- stratowhammy

Reply to review by 'stratowhammy' on item 'Audinst HUD-MX1'
I'm glad you're enjoying the Audinst MX-1. I found that I didn't really like the sound I was getting from it on my HD580s, that it was flat and tonally uninteresting. Knowing what the 580s can do, I parted with mine (and now you have it!) I'm both interested and surprised in your discoveries...- stratowhammy

Yamaha YH-2s - What Do You Know About Them?
I'm looking at a pair of Yamaha YH-2 Orthodynamic headphones, and I saw that there was a tome written about Orthodynamic headphones and that there are a lot of fans of them on the site. For a pair in very good condition, what do you think I should pay for them? Also, because of the thin...- stratowhammy

Making my own headphones
Hi, I'm thinking of making a pair of these myself. I was wondering if you had a detailed parts list and if you could make a quick step-by-step guide for how you made these (even a quick overview with tips would be great). Any advice you can pass along would be great!- stratowhammy

Amplifier for my Ipod and Senheisser HD555 headphones
As someone who owns both of these products I'd advise you to steer clear of the E7. Its nice for a while, but it started generating a lot of static, I think on the DAC side. If you're willing to spend the money on an E7 and its for an iPod then I'd recommend finding something that has a set of...- stratowhammy
