Are you sure your records are of high quality?! Hook up your headphones to the RCA output of the card using the 2 X RCA => 3,5" jack adapter that comes in the box. If the hiss is still present then the issue is probably your audio files. Is the hissing present when watching a movie/playing a game?

I'd say go for the Auzentech Bravura, it's an awesome card for gaming and an excellent bang for the buck.

That seems odd, I used the 1790 UniXonar drivers with my Xonar ST on 7 x64 and I had stability problems, BSOD in general when quitting 3D applications, now I'm back 1788 UniXonar and it's as stable as a rock. I'm using the low DPC driver version btw.
