Apple AirPods Pro And NEW AirPods Pro 2nd Gen (from 23 Sep 2022) - Impressions
Yeah, I share your view on the sound. A mix of the mids, upper-mids and clarity from the APP1, and the sub-bass and separation from the APP2 and this would be great. The question is, to what extent could a future firmware update for the APP2 achieve this?- stargazing

Apple AirPods Pro And NEW AirPods Pro 2nd Gen (from 23 Sep 2022) - Impressions
At the risk of expressing an unpopular opinion here, but am I alone in finding the sound quality worse in the app2 than in the app1? It's a shame, the quality of the sub bass and separation is undoubtedly better in the app2, but the mids and low highs sound incredibly recessed to me, quite...- stargazing

Campfire Audio IO
is the bottom line here that it's futile to compare IEMs like the IO to TOTL products like andro / vega? Or are there benefits here that the TOTL types don't have?- stargazing

Campfire - Solaris
I'm new to this world so forgive me - but if the requirement is that the Solaris need burn in, if that does indeed affect the sound, wouldn't the tested units by definition have variance between them? I very much enjoy reading this thread, hugely informative and helpful people on here -...- stargazing

Have you ever tried the atlas with Ref 8? Would be curious to see if it opens the Atlas to almost approach Solaris in terms of separation and imaging- stargazing

Thank you very much for this. I actually went and tried them today in Selfridges in London. All I can say is I get it now! Doubt they were burned in, so I definitely see what people mean about the bass impact (it's on the light side), but the rest of the presentation is spectacular. Take this...- stargazing

Sure take the Ravel String Quartet - 1st movement - 2-3 minutes in the cello pizzicato low notes. On the Andro these are flat, end quickly etc. On the Vega the impact of the finger plucking the string can be felt, and the notes are full and bloom. It’s a completely different presentation and far...- stargazing

Perhaps Basshead is what I gravitate towards, but most of my listening is of classical music. The Andro are incredible but it’s frustrating to miss the bloom a cello makes on the lower strings for example. No easy way it seems- stargazing

Phantom The Phantom look great but I think I’d miss the DD naturalness, nothwithstanding their tuning. CA seems to me to be on a great trajectory - just not convinced the Solaris is it yet. Although of course, I should probably try to hear them before passing judgement!- stargazing

Well yes, however I found the vega to have a much tighter bass, with more impact! The sad thing is my Andro have been relegated since picking up the Vega. I suppose what I’m trying to understand is whether the Solaris is indeed an Andro+ a more natural and impactful bass. From reading this...- stargazing

These look great! Curious as to why you went with these rather than say Snugs? Is it a price point thing in this case?- stargazing

Yeah I thought as much, thank you. This is kind of what’s put me off going the Solaris route so far. I may be an outlier in that I much prefer a fun signature especially in the bass and mids. What I hoped was that the incredible air of the Andro OG could be held up with that Vega punchiness but...- stargazing

NEW - Campfire Comet and Atlas
What is the general consensus on Snugs here? Do they offer much improvement over say Comply (it comply seal well for the user?). It is difficult to keep buying tips which eventually fail - so wonder whether the investment is worth it- stargazing

How would you all compare the impact of the Solaris lows with the Vega? I get the impression they are perhaps as full but without impact. I own the Andro and Vega and although very satisfied with the vega do miss some of the Andro’s separation and clarity. Thanks :)- stargazing
