STOP TELLING PEOPLE YOU CAN'T TELL 192AAC VS LOSSLESS ILL PROVE IT
trose49, There are certain things that can be changed within a sound file, that no human can ever detect. A high end microphone can essentially hear everything, and record it. What does this mean? It means sounds that are very quiet, even near silent, are picked up by the microphone just as...- SeagramSeven

K701 + Fun = What Cans?
If all you want is "a little more down low", and are otherwise satisfied with the K701, save your money and use a high-precision equalizer. The equilizer used in Foobar2000 operates at 64-bit internal precision---enough to equalize your sound in whatever way you wish with no distortion. And...- SeagramSeven

AKG 501'a add artificial distance
Artificial distance? That really does not make any sense at all. In order for some distance X to be artificial, some other distance Y must be natural else there is no way to differentiate the two. If I listen to a performance of a symphony while sitting in the orchestra pit, is that...- SeagramSeven

Odd that listeners hear more bass from HD 650 than K701
Hi-Finthen & Davesrose, The biggest variable here is not your equipment or ears but music selections and personal experiences of live music. While I can find something I like in nearly any genre, my focal point would be anything that people clump into the "classical" genre. My...- SeagramSeven

Why the majority of your CDs sound horrible.
This was not likely the link you read earlier, but it is probably a better one. Read it in full for a better understanding: http://www.digido.com/modules.php?na...howpage&pid=45 For the record, that list is authored by one of the best and most respected mastering engineers in the industry.- SeagramSeven

Odd that listeners hear more bass from HD 650 than K701
Many of the K701's upper frequencies are 5-8dB louder than the 650's. The K701's bass region however is only 1-3dB louder. The result of that when presented in a song is simple---bass sounds louder on the 650. If you are going to use the graph as your reference---you must take the...- SeagramSeven

Your thaughts on 'remastered' CDs?
What makes it sound better? Newer equipment? The recording hasn't changed. It's still an old recording with all the limitations of the equipment it was originally made with. Processing it with modern equipment will not change this. The sound may be modified in ways, but nothing will "add...- SeagramSeven

Your thaughts on 'remastered' CDs?
You cannot make something from nothing. Mastering and remastering can not "add" anything to the overall quality, they can only subtract. They can filter to remove tape hiss or background noise, but details and ambience from the original will be wiped out with the noise. There is no free lunch. I...- SeagramSeven
