When i listened to PS1000e's in the audiostore, i was the only one there along with the dealer, and no loud background noises. To me the HD800 and RS1i sounded much more punchy and dynamic with better resolution as well. But then again, when i first bought the RS1i's and HD800 they both sounded...

I don't think that they were defect, but just not burned in properly. I'm looking much forward to hearing them again too see if the sound has opened up.
