    The Beauty of Synergy

This thread failed pretty hard. I was really hoping to make a decent discussion thread, but sadly, I have failed you, Head-Fi.

    The Beauty of Synergy

Thanks for your thoughts. I just felt like in that moment all of the little colorations of everything that went into that moment of listening complimented each other in exactly the right way for me. It was the exact, ideal sound I had been searching for all this time.

    The Beauty of Synergy

I have, for the first time since I became an audiophile of sorts back in 2007, experienced true synergy in my headphone sound. I mean every component just lined up to the point I became 100% completely enveloped in the music. And I really have to say, isn't that the whole point?   I must...

    Thrash-ish Recommendations

I'm actually really liking Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. Just weird enough for me. Great suggestion!

    your favorite musical genre?

The thing is, this is the internet. Which means a disproportionate percentage of posters are going to be high school and college aged guys. This means rock will obviously be the dominant genre for that demographic. There are some older audiophiles, but are they going to use the internet primarily...

    Thrash-ish Recommendations

This Skeletonwitch album is more along the lines of what I'm looking for. Not crazy about his style of scream, but the music is exactly what I was looking for. I'll give Sleepytime Gorilla Museum a shot.

    Thrash-ish Recommendations

OK, first on my list of new Thrash to listen to was Municipal Waste's Hazardous Mutation. I like it. Very punk-influenced, which I love. To be honest, though, Nile is a bit too Death-y for my likings.

    Thrash-ish Recommendations

I am trying to kind of get into Thrash. At least, I think Thrash is the word for it. I really love Lamb of God and Revocation. I believe they are considered Thrash. I guess I am looking for a more modern, technical, refined Thrash, if that makes sense. I have listened to a few bands, but many of...

    your favorite musical genre?

If I'm being honest...   Punk - 50% Post Rock - 20% Hip Hop - 20% Jazz - 5% Metal - 5%   My definition of punk is fairly wide, to be honest. Most of my music is clearly influenced from the origins of punk, so it all kind of falls under that umbrella.

    $400 Mid-Range / Treble - Focused Cans

I have noticed more to like about all of my cans as I have been selling them off and giving them one last listen. I am mainly concerned with the best rendering of guitars, drums, and cymbals. Vocals are secondary, as I listen to more instrumental stuff than anything.   I think for now my...

    $400 Mid-Range / Treble - Focused Cans

I might end up getting a pair of AKG cans and a pair of Beyers. Most of the cans suggested were in the $200 range anyway. So maybe a used pair of each, then decide if I want to keep one of those, or trade up. I might just experiment a lot this summer before I settle in to something specific. So...

    $400 Mid-Range / Treble - Focused Cans

I am not an enemy of bass. I listen to Hip Hop and Dubstep sometimes, so bass is not necessarily a bad thing, it's just not the most important.   I listen to all different genres of rock, including lo-fi, pop punk, post-rock, acoustic, and metal. I also listen to a lot of jazz, classical...

    Hip Hop: An Analysis

I honestly have to tell you, I may have found the best Hip Hop album ever. Check out "Jimmy the Lock" by NoCanDo. He's a Fresh Coast battle rapper who actually wrote a heck of an album, and I considered putting it in the "Flawless Albums" thread, but decided it would get overlooked there...
