@artur9 Agree! Last week I listened to Kent Nagano rehearse an orchestra on Die Walküre and the Act 1 overture nearly overtook me, really moved me. I've heard it live scores of times but still, live music has the power to catch you unprepared, surprise you. I love good audio equipment, as we...

Yeah, it’s possible—cables can make a big difference. If you went from really high end to really low end cables, it could sound like your IEM’s are dying, but they might be fine. Test with some other cables before throwing out those beautiful 535’s!

Wait, is this espresso you’re talking about? You don’t find 42 seconds too long? That’s about double my sweet spot. Of course it depends on this like humidity and barometric pressure in addition to the beans/grind, but I don’t think I’ve ever had my target time that high. I’d expect it to be bitter.

Coincidentally as I read this and write a response I’m sitting at The Steamie in Glasgow, my person favorite roaster. Given what I know of your preferences I’d say the regular would be a better fit, but I also suspect you’ll always think, “what if!” Your go-to in coffee is pour over and you...

Close, it’s London Phil with *Klaus Tennstedt. Gotta say, I don’t know a lot about him but this is one hell of a collaboration!

Certainly one of the greats of my life, the opera world is a richer, more beautiful place for Jessye's music. Perhaps my favorite recording of the Liebestod, is hers. Gawd but the words lived in her voice! RIP. I love how slow and ... seductive (?) it is; one understands how she simply gives...

I find it slightly rich that we here on head-if wouldn’t understand the willingness to pay premium pricing for incremental improvements. My wife still thinks I’m crazy for buying our 2y/o son $120 headphones and a friend nearly died when I told her what I spent on my portable rig. Whether it’s...

I didn’t know that was a thing! I’ve seen the movie but not for a *long time.

I knew a guy who mixed his OJ and coffee. I tried it and it’s surprisingly not bad! Not good enough that I’ve made it for myself that way. I too like my coffee black, no sugar, but I get why he liked it.

My only word of warning with the Capresso is be sure you’re using it in the intended country with the intended outlet power. If it’s expecting 110 and you give it 220, it’ll fail quickly! Speaking from experience. I used an adapter I thought would take care of it but it died after a week. Could...

In Wiesbaden, for espresso, I’d say Kaufmanns and The Living Bakery are the two best. Kaufmanns roasts their own beans whereas Living Bakery does not. That being said, I don’t find a noticeable difference in the end quality of the drinks served.

IMO the average cup of coffee in Europe is likely to be pretty bad. Granted my experience isn’t exhaustive but I’d say Germany has the worst average where as Italy may have the best. I’ve found good coffee in most countries but the best cup of coffee I’ve found thus far was in Scotland. That...
