Amp for HD580/HD650
Thanks everyone. I'm going to try the SS amps for now and going to bump my price ceiling. I'm going to look for a Graham Slee Solo or Headamp GS-1 on the B&S forums. If I don't like them, I can sell them for minimal loss and go the tube amp route. Thanks again.- noobie72

Amp for HD580/HD650
Is the Gilmore Lite more powerful than the Eddie Current? All the reviews I've read put them about the same. I've read the Senn's like amps with a lot of current, so tube amps are the way to go. If I go with the DV or Little Dot, can I configure them to remove some of the "darkness" of the Senns?- noobie72

Amp for HD580/HD650
Hi, I know this has been asked a million times before and I have read countless threads on this, but I'm still looking for an amp to power my HD580s and possibly HD650s if I upgrade. I listen to music via laptop through an E-MU 0404 external DAC/AMP and was looking for an amp with more...- noobie72

Need help finding amp for Grado RS-2
Tubes will probably be a last resort for me as I don't find them aesthetically pleasing. I know, it's supposed to be all about the sound, but... Quote: Originally Posted by Chrispy Is the Darkvoice 336 in your price range. I'm really not deep into head-fi to have heard one, but I...- noobie72

I have thought about this, but I've decided to move to a separate dac/amp solution. Quote: Originally Posted by lerio Or Aria- noobie72

Opera is out of my price range. I'll have to read up on the Arietta, though. Thanks for the information. Quote: Originally Posted by lerio None from Corda serie ? they seem to all give a warm sound What about Opera ?- noobie72

Need help finding amp for Grado RS-2
Thanks for the information. I've been reading up on the eddy current ec/ss and it looks like a nice amp. I have a pair of HD 580s too, so I'll have to see if the amp can power these effectively. Quote: Originally Posted by daveDerek there's always grado's own ra-1. some also seem...- noobie72

Need help finding amp for Grado RS-2
I currently have the RS-2s with the bowl pads and the E-MU 0404 USB dac/amp combo. I like the wider soundstage the bowls provide over the flats, but with some music the highs are a little too much. I'm looking for a desktop amp under $350 US that will tame the highs and increase the soundstage...- noobie72

Have HD595 and thinking of ms2i
I used to have the 595 and currently own the MS2i and HD 580. Here's my impression of the two: Bass - MS2i is slightly deeper, more pronounced and tighter. 595 bass could sound a little flabby and loose with some music. Mids/highs - 595 is "bright" for Senns but not as "bright" as MS2i...- noobie72

About the HeadRoom's Total Bithead amp
If you don't mind the size, you might want to take a look at the EMU 0404 USB with Sennheiser HD580 and Alessandro MS1. All can be bought for < $450 and would make a great setup for all types of music, IMO.- noobie72

MS1 > SR225?
I've had the SR80 (bowls), MS1 (comfys), SR225 (bowls + senn yellows) and now the MS2i (bowls) all driven from an EMU 0404 USB off my laptop. I'd rate them as follows: MS2i >> SR225 > MS1 > SR80 To me, the SR225 were slightly more detailed and a little brighter than the MS1, although I did...- noobie72

I've got my Senn HD650s, but there must be something wrong
I have the EMU 0404 USB with the HD580s and MS2i and it drives both just fine for me, although I rarely go past halfway on the volume with either. That said, I only listen to the HD580s when sleeping Quote: Originally Posted by Gatticus I've seen a few people say they really...- noobie72
