    Amp for HD580/HD650

Thanks everyone. I'm going to try the SS amps for now and going to bump my price ceiling. I'm going to look for a Graham Slee Solo or Headamp GS-1 on the B&S forums. If I don't like them, I can sell them for minimal loss and go the tube amp route. Thanks again.

    Amp for HD580/HD650

Is the Gilmore Lite more powerful than the Eddie Current? All the reviews I've read put them about the same. I've read the Senn's like amps with a lot of current, so tube amps are the way to go. If I go with the DV or Little Dot, can I configure them to remove some of the "darkness" of the Senns?

    Amp for HD580/HD650

Hi, I know this has been asked a million times before and I have read countless threads on this, but I'm still looking for an amp to power my HD580s and possibly HD650s if I upgrade. I listen to music via laptop through an E-MU 0404 external DAC/AMP and was looking for an amp with more...

I have thought about this, but I've decided to move to a separate dac/amp solution. Quote: Originally Posted by lerio Or Aria

Need help finding amp for Grado RS-2

Thanks for the information. I've been reading up on the eddy current ec/ss and it looks like a nice amp. I have a pair of HD 580s too, so I'll have to see if the amp can power these effectively. Quote: Originally Posted by daveDerek there's always grado's own ra-1. some also seem...

Need help finding amp for Grado RS-2

I currently have the RS-2s with the bowl pads and the E-MU 0404 USB dac/amp combo. I like the wider soundstage the bowls provide over the flats, but with some music the highs are a little too much. I'm looking for a desktop amp under $350 US that will tame the highs and increase the soundstage...

Have HD595 and thinking of ms2i

I used to have the 595 and currently own the MS2i and HD 580. Here's my impression of the two: Bass - MS2i is slightly deeper, more pronounced and tighter. 595 bass could sound a little flabby and loose with some music. Mids/highs - 595 is "bright" for Senns but not as "bright" as MS2i...

About the HeadRoom's Total Bithead amp

If you don't mind the size, you might want to take a look at the EMU 0404 USB with Sennheiser HD580 and Alessandro MS1. All can be bought for < $450 and would make a great setup for all types of music, IMO.

    MS1 > SR225?

I've had the SR80 (bowls), MS1 (comfys), SR225 (bowls + senn yellows) and now the MS2i (bowls) all driven from an EMU 0404 USB off my laptop. I'd rate them as follows: MS2i >> SR225 > MS1 > SR80 To me, the SR225 were slightly more detailed and a little brighter than the MS1, although I did...

I've got my Senn HD650s, but there must be something wrong

I have the EMU 0404 USB with the HD580s and MS2i and it drives both just fine for me, although I rarely go past halfway on the volume with either. That said, I only listen to the HD580s when sleeping Quote: Originally Posted by Gatticus I've seen a few people say they really...

V-Moda Vibes: out of the box impressions.

I just got these today and my initial impressions are similar to yours. The bass is very strong but the mids and highs are ok at best. The sound just sounds muffled to me, although this is probably because I favor the Grado sound. For my needs, these are a decent, relatively cheap IEM for hip...

    Grado question.

Hmm, I currently have both the MS1 and the HD595. I don't think that the MS1's are that much more upfront than the 595s. The 595s do have a wider soundstage, though. I also have the SR225 and they are noticeably more upfront than the 595s. I settled on the MS2is. To me they are a noticeable...

First Impressions: Bowl VS Comfy pads

I feel the weight, but I don't think they weigh down on the top of my ears. It's more like a little more pressure inward due to the weight of the cups. I really like the sound of the MS2i's so I don't mind the small inconvenience. I'd rather have the same SQ with the lighter cups, though...

First Impressions: Bowl VS Comfy pads

You can also bend the headband so there is less pressure on your ears. I find this works fine for the plastic housing models (SR60, SR80, SR125, SR225, MS1) but this does not work as well with the aluminum housings. If I bend the headband on my MS2i's so they don't fall off when I move around...

    budget amps for VIBES

NP. There's another very good thread comparing some more portable amps, but I couldn't find it. I would do a search. I believe it had the govibe 5 rated very highly for value. Good luck. Quote: Originally Posted by onbu-BLAKkOPS thanks for the link

First Impressions: Bowl VS Comfy pads

I find comfys and Sen 414? pads more comfortable than the bowls, but I prefer the bowls with Alessandros and 414s/comfys with Grados for sound. I wear the bowls over eight hours a day (I sleep with my headphones on), so they aren't that uncomfortable, although every few hours or so I'll have to...

    Sick of Hip Hop?

Hip Hop is not just music, it’s an urban culture that combines music (DJing and MCing), art and dance. Rap is really one facet of the hip hop culture. When the lyrics in rap music represent true urban culture, then it is hip hop music. When it represents what record companies think will sell...

    USB DAC/Amp recommendations on a 200$ budget
