Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Not certain about Gjallarhorn on Lokius as the Lokius FAQs state: Matches the size of Modius and Magnius, and the footprint of Asgard, Jotunheim, and Lyr. This means it looks good in a stack—though be careful when stacking on top of components with internal transformers like Asgard, Jotunheim...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Initially sounds logical to me, and I might also have fallen for it, especially as I am a mechanical engineer :). However, it ignores a number of potential issues including: electromagnetic coupling between the digital and analogue circuits within the same box (assuming that neither were in...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

My comment was not intended to disagree with a useful video you had recommended. I was more thinking about the fact that he was wanting to modify a Modi Multibit, with SMT, as his first modding project and not thinking enough about his overall lack of experience. :beerchug:

Not suggesting that you do not try any modding; however, I would suggest reading Jason’s ’Schiit Happens’ 2016 chapter On Modding, Hubris and Reality. The post does not specifically mention Modi Multibit as it was published before the Multibit version was produced. If I remember correctly, Modi...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Having quickly scanned through the video, rather than watched it in its entirety, it seems mainly concerned with wiring and through-hole components. Whilst good techniques to learn, its relevance to modding Modi Multibit 1 is limited as I believe the Modi largely used surface mount components...

Just to be clear the splitters and cables you have are perfectly ok. mjstealey‘s diagram is correct. Note that the L & R connectors on the DAC are outputs not inputs, the will connect to the inputs on the amps. Ignore the colours on the splitters, the colours are misleading as all three...

As I have added in the edit to my earlier post, they were probably intended to allow the input of a mono source into a stereo amp or other device, for example a mono microphone into a DJ’s mixer. Edit: I do agree that colour coding them is an issue whether they are being used as splitters or...

Unfortunately, your photo doesn’t show your entire splitters or cables. The combined ends of the splitters should be plugged into the left and right outlets on the DAC (this appears correct from your photo). Then you need to ignore the colours on the splitters - one of the cables from the...

Being class A, when turned on the OG Asgard will run hotter at when not driving headphones and cooler when used for a listening session. There should be no problem from heat even without risers, even if left on continuously.

However, they have much lower ‘running costs’…

I believe the Apple AirPort Express optical output was almost guaranteed to trigger the light. I think that some satellite and cable receivers also were problem devices. Edit: Beaten by Jason’s reply.

In addition to xTripX’s reply above, I believe that it was Jason Stoddard who posted earlier in this thread that most modern USB sources, including computers, had got better than when Yggdrasil was introduced and would not light the buy-better light. Edit: typo corrected.

The complete recordings of ‘At the Drop of a Hat’ and ‘At the Drop of Another Hat’ and other additional Flanders and Swan songs are available on CD and presumably on various streaming services that I do not use. Regards, Nigel

You mean you don’t use the ‘A Gnu’ from Flanders and Swann’s ‘At the Drop of a Hat’ to assess equipment? :beerchug: Edited to correct song title and add show/record title.
