    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

It appears that Shure finally cleared up their act with the SE846, but at what price tag! The ones before these have had insane treble recession and early cut off bass. I wonder though, how these measure up to JH16s

Looks nice, should be paired with a B&W surround set..

    PS1000 Impressions Thread

What about taking very good neutral headphones like the Beyer T1, and instead just applying a v-curve DSP in the processing chain? Like in Foobar..

    Sony MDR-1R series MK2

My experiences with Sony IEMS have always been meager. Given I've gone for the low end of their line, still they have produced some amazingly terrible pairs! I wonder if they cleaned up their act in that department somewhat.

    Havi B3 Pro-1 Impressions Thread

That is a slick set! I wonder how they measure up to MEElectronics' M-Duo, which are pretty darn good as well

Ps audio direct stream dsd DAC

Well like I said, my PCM gear is absolute top end. So the DSD converted to PCM was very disappointing to me. But it was very obvious to me that the conversion was not the reason, but the music recording itself was just not fit to represent any kind of music format, but MP3 256kbps. I'll check...

Ps audio direct stream dsd DAC

I don't really understand the DSD hype. I downloaded a bunch of demonstration DSD's, 200-300MB each, and played them converted to 192/24. I understand that converted to PCM defies the purpose of DSD, however, through my top end gear I found that the DSD recording was not even all that high end...

Do you believe you've reached the peak? Let us know of the peak gear!

I think my DAC/Amp + T1/Silver Widow setup could be well near the very peak of 2014. I have JH16Pro CIEMS on an IBasso HDP R10 and they don't come near the cans setup in terms of resolution and extension. I'm sure the future holds more though..

    High End CIEM/IEM Thread!

Though this thread is aimed at higher price tag iems, some lower ones should be mentioned as well.. On my Ibasso HDP R10 the quality difference between my JH16Pro ($1200) and FA-4E XB ($500) is just absolutely minimal. Rumbling bass, great consistency and comparable resolution over the entire...

I've been saving for a very long time now and have $2500 to buy the best setup for the money.

I kind of have to disagree here. With a top end dac and amp, I find that the T1's treble is not accentuated nor harsh in any way. They have excellent resolution, and though their treble reaches high, I still believe it could be more extended. I'd say DAC/Amp is super important in assessing their...

Dr. Chesky's Ultimate Headphone Demonstration Disc - Head-Fi TV

Well I believe to clearly hear audio alteration. Be it stereo enhancing, slight dynamical compression, some equalizing or smoothing.. I've heard far more 'analog', raw recordings from dummy heads more preserving naturality.. It's either DSP, editing or the kind of gear they use for the...

Dr. Chesky's Ultimate Headphone Demonstration Disc - Head-Fi TV

I've listened to the previews on HDTracks and I find that Chesky applies too much mastering. I suspect they do it to fit the bulk of mid/hi end headphones rather than make it truly high end. I really prefer music to be as close to original as possible, with all the dynamics and textures. Chesky...
