Music on Foobar skipping?
I haven't posted in eons!...but I had this very same problem and thought I should definitely share the solution to this very frustrating problem. Like you guys, I had intermittent pops, skips and clicks in my audio from my computer. I used this tool to figure out where they were coming from...- Nerull

HE-5..initial musings
I'm listening to my recently received HE-5s...and they blow the RS-1s I had away...there's no comparison. They sound simply marvelous...the best I've heard yet (which isn't saying terribly much...I guess). No sibilance or painful highs...listening to Animals - Pink Floyd and it's really...- Nerull

High end processors VS low end processors/receivers, hardware differences?
This is the science forum, not your drop off for unmasking a company's frauds, as deceptive as they may be. By targets, I meant your target audience. What do you hope to accomplish here? I doubt companies will post here about it...and most owners don't have the knowledge / equipment to really...- Nerull

High end processors VS low end processors/receivers, hardware differences?
The not knowing why is why it helps to be well-voiced in electronic and audio design. Go ahead and spend time with your family, it's a good thing. We're talking about audio though. This is a forum for the obsessive, those who want the best. If you don't want that, that's fine. But...- Nerull

Theta Digital compli blu is a rebadged oppo.
A good post and eye-opener to those who believe extreme amounts of money translate into quality.- Nerull

Headphone wire resistivity
The capacitive load it is able to drive is based on the opamp itself and the resistor tacked on the output of the opamp. The ferrite beads on the output also provides an improvement to this (as noted on AMB's website...). I'm going to say you shouldn't have any reasonable problems with any...- Nerull

Capacitor burn in, how long does it really take?
I really don't know why BlackGates are touted so much. They don't even give specifications for them! Part of using a component in a design is knowing it's limitations and details. They give absolutely none. Well, unless you consider their marketing crap to be akin to specifications. I...- Nerull

A Cartridge Question (those into vinyl)
By stylus width, I meant the actual profile (which you mentioned anyway). I also didn't clarify this, but that's 40um minimum. The Genesis Of Vinyl Stereo Record - Entstehungsgeschichte der Stereoschallplatte. Pardon if I interpreted it incorrectly. I wrote this thread in a hurry. Ultimately...- Nerull

A Cartridge Question (those into vinyl)
Is there any correlation between sound quality and stylus width? The vinyl width on 33/45's is 40um, if that makes any difference. Do you think that a thinner profile stylus cartridge would be better at reproducing sound? Why or why not? ~Thomas- Nerull

Are there real differences between electrostatic amps?
I can understand the skepticism, especially considering that the amp is likely (if you are to get a "step-up") going to be expensive. It may be worth your time to actually find someone to borrow an amp from (a KGSS, for example). If you aren't skeptical about dropping that much dough for...- Nerull

Grados are the most enjoyable headphones i have tried, whats yours?
RS-1s....I love their sound. Really want to try some Audio-Technica (AD2000 and such) and the PS1000s though.... ~Thomas- Nerull

Poll: Audible Difference between FLAC and 320kbps MP3?
On my laptop, 320K is plenty...on my main computer rig, it's FLAC, as that computer has much more space. When I used my Rio Karma, I used 320K MP3 as I was unable to discern a difference between that and FLAC. It should also be noted that FLAC and other lossless codecs use much more battery (at...- Nerull

The Sound of Instrument Grade Resistors
There's a chance, depending on the application, it could effect the sound. Strange, I know, but given some circumstances...for example, I came upon this thread at DIYHiFi: DIYHiFi.org • View topic - Distortion in resistors That graph is from Vishay / Roederstein. Also, Vishay has taken it...- Nerull

High end processors VS low end processors/receivers, hardware differences?
Bullseye, I'm not going to lie, you come off as very rude and condescending. You should drop the smarmy, know-it-all attitude. Especially considering you've done nothing but drop a few insults. Maybe it's a translation thing, I don't know. The Behringer Ultracurve Pro DEQ2496 is nice and all...- Nerull
