If the DP-S1 is a Japanese sourced model, Tidal was never available on it. (search this thread for discussion about it). That also goes for the Pioneer version.- MrSlim

My DIY electrostatic headphones
Although I have to agree that the KGHSSV Carbon is likely close to or is top of the heap for Electrostatic amplifiers, you might consider something a bit simpler for a first pass at building an Electro amp. Check out the CFA electrostatic amp thread on the forum where the Stax Mafia hang out...- MrSlim

If the 3.5 mm is a TRS (tip, ring, sleeve) connector, then it's likely that they use a common ground with a hot left and right. An adapter to convert to a 2.5MM TRRS (R+,R-,L+,L-) would end up shorting out the R- and L- and possibly damaging the balanced output. IF the headphones us a 4...- MrSlim

No, you can output to a USB Dac from the Onkyo, but not receive from another device to use it's DAC.- MrSlim

Ok, we can agree to disagree, but I still think they would be shooting themselves in the foot by only having the benefit of dual DAC's for Balanced operation. There is no indication on the Data sheet http://www.pioneer-audiovisual.eu/sites/default/files/datasheets/english/XDP-30R.pdf either...- MrSlim
