Sennheiser HD800 v Grado GS1000i
Quote: Well put. I read so many criticisms of the GS1000, but for me, they simply make my music sound good, fun and engaging. Comfort is another story... how I wish the GS1000 felt as nice on the head as the DT990/600 or T1.- MarkJnK

Which Woo?
I have the WA6Se and the K701's I had when I bought the amp sounded terrific through the WA6SE. But Jack told me that the WA2 has a warmer tubier sound, which I think would be even better with the K701, to take more of the edge off the highs and fill out the mids.- MarkJnK

Woo 6 and6SE Owners Help
I'm using the Sylvania 6DE7 paired with a Sophia Princess. These give me the detail I like with a bit of warmth. Preferred over the Raytheon 6EW7 which sound a bit muddier or dull. Not as dynamic.- MarkJnK

PS1000 with Woo Audio WA6SE
I use the GS1000 and WA6SE and think it is a tremendous match. I don't see any reason why the PS1000's wouldn't shine with the WA6SE also. In fact the WA6SE makes almost any can sound great.- MarkJnK

DT880 vs DT990 | Comparison & Review
Thanks for the review, it was entertaining to read, although I disagree with your conclusions. I think you are doing fellow head-fiers a disservice by being so hard on the DT990/600, as you might be leading them away from a headphone that can be extremely pleasing. I've owned T1, DT880...- MarkJnK

WA3, WA2, WA6/WA6SE comparison from Jack
This is a tough decision, and one that gets debated quite a bit here. It seems that the differences between Woo products is not very well defined, and even sometimes Jacks responses can be a bit cryptic. When I was shopping, I had K701's and was debating between the WA2 and WA6SE. The...- MarkJnK

Woo Amps have seduced me!
When I started here I went nuts trying to figure out the best combo fo rmy listening needs, went through several amps and about a dozen headphones. Then through the luck of the sales forum, I was able to buy a used WA6SE to pair with my Beyer DT990/600 and Grado GS1000's, and I am happy. I am...- MarkJnK

The Best Headphones ?
Best all arounder in my opinion is the DT990-600. Great sparkle, superb controlled bass, warm, comfortable. I think the K701 would be too harsh on some gaming sounds, they could become fatiguing. I loved them for acoustical jazz, but the variety of sound in gaming would not be the best match...- MarkJnK

worried about my beyerdynamic dt990/600 headphones.
I would recommend keeping the 990/600's and buying a buget amp to drive them properly, you will be rewarded with a very pleasing musical experience. My 990/600's have become my favorite cans among some very stiff competition. Something as inexpensive as a Corda Headfive would work well with...- MarkJnK

Woo Audio WA2 or WA6SE
On my WA6SE, after 8 hours of listening, the only thing that gets above room temperature are the tubes themselves. No heat issues at all.- MarkJnK

Okay, so I don't like grados. What will I like?
DT990/600... just over $200 on sale at a few vendors, and the sound is amazing. Warm, dynamic, great soundstage, and can make just about any music sound great. I've listened to my entire collection from metal to jazz and classical, and haven't had a single moment where I thought they weren't...- MarkJnK

Grado sound, but with better soundstage and sub-bass
Quote: My mistake, I mean to say that the GS1000 sounds very "grado-like" with bowls (the standard current pads), vs. the huge soundstage, and booming bass with the jumbos. I haven't tried TTVJ's flats.- MarkJnK

Woo Audio WA2 or WA6SE
Zero hum here. Fantastic amp... and the Sophia Princess is a match made in heaven, unless you have brighter cans like the K701, then the Sophia Princess sounds too strident. This is the ONE product that I have bought on Head-fi that is 100% perfect for my needs and I haven't thought about...- MarkJnK
