So I got a pair of superlux 668b's for home, now I need to get some portables.

Like before, I was looking at the HD25-1 ii, hopefully I can find a used pair for ~130 dollars but no one seems to have them for sale on headfi( :( ), new they are ~150-160 on ebay.

If i can, i'd like something cheaper... i've been eyeing the ath-es7, CAL! and some others. any advice?

Do you like the Superlux?  Does it do the right thing for rock music, enough punch and dynamics and energy?  It's gotten some good reviews, especially for being great for the price.

Not really, the HD668b lacks the bass slam for rock. I remember doing an A/B comparison between the Sony V6 and HD668b, the V6 has better bass, especially in rock. The HD668b beats the V6 in soundstage though.

DT990/600... just over $200 on sale at a few vendors, and the sound is amazing.  Warm, dynamic, great soundstage, and can make just about any music sound great.  I've listened to my entire collection from metal to jazz and classical, and haven't had a single moment where I thought they weren't doing the music justice.  And they are supremely comfortable to boot.
