Keep my Xonar DX or exchange for Xonar STX
I have a DX card and don't hear any hollowness, unless I add some digital effect from the card's options. To judge how any card truly sounds, you have to run it straight/normal without any faux effects. To get a non-processed output on the DX, under "DSP mode" tick the "HF" button. That...- LowPhreak

Also check out the SPL Auditor with the K701/702. Great amp with these cans. I've got an EarMax for a bit laid back sound with the 701, very nice imaging/staging. Next up I'm going to try an M-Stage.- LowPhreak

Regarding The AKG k701s
Quote: What, and wait a few years until the bankers & hedge funds inflate the next bubble and it pops? Or does the hoi polloi fancy themselves as great financial wizards simply because they have a few measly bucks into some lame investments? Wall St. looks at most small investors...- LowPhreak

K701 thread
Quote: Where did I imply that you should buy & test everything? That's YOUR invention. My point was that you should try to listen to as many as you can get your hands on out of a list of contenders, not buy simply on someone else's recommendation. Why? Because we all hear a bit...- LowPhreak

K701 thread
Quote: F*ck threads. Listen on your own. Obviously we can't get our hands on much of the gear we'd like to, but you have to have some knowledge and experience to make a good judgment. Don't just buy the one unit that "everyone says" is so great with 'X' other unit. Make your own...- LowPhreak

I thought this was the "K701 appreciation thread", not the "Let's harp on how much better $1200.-1400. cans must be than K701's" thread?- LowPhreak

New Zen I/V proposed from Nelson Pass
I like both versions, just different. The 24/96 seems a bit better resolution, a tad more air, but not as ballsy in the low end as the '63 version.- LowPhreak

Musical Fidelity M1HPA + AKG K701...good combo?
Just wondering if anyone has used the K701s with this amp. On paper, it looks like it might be a decent match. I'd appreciate any subjective input you may have.- LowPhreak
