JH Audio Angie Impressions and Discussion Thread
I will try to locate a newer Cowon DAP and have a listen. That being said, the Angie's still sound pretty good straight out of my J3. I have an 8 wire budget silver cable without bass adjusters on the way for the Angie's. Hopefully it enhances the sound and the bass being stuck at 100% won't...- lootbag

JH Audio Angie Impressions and Discussion Thread
Hoping for some opinions. Back in 2011, my main combo was a Cowon J3 and Westone ES5s. They were a great musical and engaging combo. Then I sort of sold all my gear and went on hiatus, until recently. I now have a second hand pair of Angies (using Spinfits) and a Pioneer 300R. But...- lootbag

Comply vs Spiral Dot vs SpinFit
I have a similar problem to yours. My solution was take a spare Comply T500 I had lying around, split in half and remove the plastic core. Then place the foam ring inside the Spinfits. The seal has improved for me with the foam beneath the silicone surface resulting in more isolation and proper...- lootbag

Comply vs Spiral Dot vs SpinFit
Must thank the members for posting the extremely useful photo comparisons. Just bought a second hand pair of Angies that did not come with the stock AK silicone tips in my size. Had some T500s lying around but I felt like they muffled too much away. Went out and bought some TS500s and...- lootbag

Westone ES5
Riding the MTR during rush hour with the ES5s was awesome this past summer for me. Full isolation and awesome sound everywhere I go. I would never wear big cans on the subway though, just don't like wearing cans in public for some reason; I think I am too self-conscious. edit: Wow I...- lootbag

The iBasso D7 "Sidewinder" true 24/196 USB, images first page.
Quote: Very true. That is why I never purchased one either. Hearing that they are switching from Wolfson to Sabre is very interesting. I have heard a few Sabre DACs and they sound very very good when implemented well.- lootbag

LCD-2 sound in an IEM?
Quote: Agreed, the ES5s can't beat the presentation of the LCD-2 R2. When the ES5s are in my ears and all that music is swirling around in my head on the subway, it sounds pretty damn good but when I put the LCD-2 R2 on at home, it just on another level.- lootbag

LCD-2 sound in an IEM?
Quote: I slightly agree with this, IMO. Being the owner of LCD-2 R2 and the ES5, I can say they both give me that "intimate", in-your-head experience with music. They both do not extend the soundstage which I do not really care for but the music is presented in a very smooth...- lootbag

Bottlehead Crack OTL
I went with the Lyr to amp my LCD-2 R2. It is popular due to its price and performance. Hopefully it is within your budget because I would take the Lyr over the Bottlehead Crack. As stated earlier, it seems mismatched with orthodynamics and is meant for higher impedance dynamics. ...- lootbag

New Audiolab DAC
Oh man, I just saw this thread and did some research on the 8200CD and M-DAC. Now I am trying to decide between the two of them and the incoming Schiit balanced DACs. I think they would be worth the wait! I guess it would be a no brainer if I want to play CDs... 8200CD. Decisions...- lootbag

What to buy? Perplexed
Quote: Ok very well. OP could try the Sansa line, Fuze, Clip, Clip+... Never tried them but they have received glowing reviews here on Head-Fi. Only suggested the J3 because it is attainable for lower than 210.00 on the used market (which is what the OP was looking at) and...- lootbag

What to buy? Perplexed
Haha, I have had so many problems with iPod 4Gs and 5Gs over the years. Hard drive and battery failures all the time. They sound great with the Wolfson DAC but, went through 5-6 replacements... under warranty of course. Got to love Apple warranty. Now I have the Cowon J3. Sounds...- lootbag

dt1350 or P5?
I've tried both. The DT1350 will isolate much better than the P5 due to its clamping force. The P5 is more comfortable and sounds "warmer". But the DT1350 is not clinical or cold sounding to me at all, more like neutral warm and I preferred it to the P5.- lootbag
