    Cayin N6 DAP: Dual PCM1792 / Dual Mono / 24-192 / DSD128 / SACD ISO

Yeah, I searched about QP1R...It's a bit more expensive and sonic wise, it isn't that much better (just a bit in treble maybe). And it has no USB DAC and one or two other things that put me off. But the main concern was price.       the qp1r is better not just in its treble, but has a...

    Cayin N6 DAP: Dual PCM1792 / Dual Mono / 24-192 / DSD128 / SACD ISO

the n6 is very good, and good value for its price.  the questyle qp1r is better - with a richer treble and without the slightly artificial "air" i hear around each instrument on the n6.  otoh, the qp1r is 50% more expensive.  the n6 clearly outperforms the ibasso dx90, which sounds congested...

    Neutron vs Poweramp

years ago i spent time a-b'ing neutron with several other players.  there was a clear difference to my ears: neutron was noticeably better.  i no longer use it, really.  i use a dap:  a qp1r, but if i were listening to my phone i'd use neutron.

Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings

[pardon me if this is redundant- im just catching up on this thread and saw this post from a week ago.]   if you're looking for isolation you might want to look at etymotic. i have the er4pt with custom tips.  that gives roughly -45dB.     over at theheadphonelist dot com, ljokerl has a...

thanks for the reply.  i got my weekly updates email from head-fi and was looking through some threads.  don't remember what did it, but i had a sudden attack of upgraditis.  i think i'll stick with the primes for now- i really do like their sound and i don't need a closed headphone that often.

any more detailed comments comparing the ether c and the primes?  how about their comparative isolation?

i have the alpha primes, which i really like and i think provide very good isolation.  i have read in some other thread that the ether c is not as isolating.  what do you think?  also, any more comments comparing the two?

Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings

yeah, i figured that by the time you tried the various fixes for the wheel you'd fall in love with the sound.   when i said "sell the device" i thought that that would be very unlikely.     i actually use the wheel very rarely. i only do folder play and find the capacitive buttons quite...

Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings

iirc scrolling in pages instead of folders is determined by the "flip" function in your system settings.  if the wheel doesn't start working better with use, and you don't want to put on a plastic screen protector type wheel skin or stick on the wheel a physical eraser type button, and you find...

    Questyle QP1

so it makes sense then to prefer higher volume with lower gain, since gain can only increase any distortion from the dac and amp, while volume works on the input signal so at that stage you're just dealing with any noise that was in your original signal.  thanks for explaining all this.  much...
