Looking for suggestions... $500 budget, closed back basshead phones, mangi+modi
I have looked around a bit... I was thinking about maybe Ultrasone Pro 900's or maybe DT770's... as far as I have read though, neither seems to be much an upgrade as far as sound stage goes. If I could improve upon that i'd be more likely to pull the trigger.- ickyman

Looking for suggestions... $500 budget, closed back basshead phones, mangi+modi
I'm thinking about a new pair of phones. Let me start off with that I have a pair of Ultrasone HFI-780's that I am pretty happy with, though I'd like to upgrade from them. I really do like these phones and I am hesitant to buy anything else because I'm not sure the money is worth the reward. I'd...- ickyman

HFI-780's... Desktop Amp to replace iBasso D10
Hello, I'm looking for a new desktop amp. Currently I use a stock iBasso D10 from my motherboards optical out. I love the sound I have from this set-up, though I realize it could be improved. However, my biggest gripe is the lack of volume. I like to listen at higher levels than is...- ickyman

Desktop amp for my comp
On around 75% of the recordings I listen to they suffice, but on some stuff, like late 80's metal, the recordings are at a lower level and require more of a boost from the amp. On those, it is barely "adequate" for myself when I feel the need to turn up the volume. For most, the volume probably...- ickyman

Desktop amp for my comp
I was thinking for an amp maybe a WA6, but I dunno. The idea of swapping tubes to create synergy makes more sense to me than blowing a stack of cash on something which only sounds good with one pair of phones. I like the d10 overall, though it does restrict what I can get in the future...- ickyman

Desktop amp for my comp
Hello, I am still a bit of a noob to all of this. I am not looking for "the holy grail" response to my situation, I am just looking for a few suggestions to point me in the right direction. First off, my current headphones are HFI-780's and AD-700's. I am thinking about upgrading in...- ickyman

If You Had $1500 What Amp/DAC + Headphone Would You Buy?
Hello, Here's where I am at presently.. I use my comp with an optical out with FLAC's as a source. For an amp I use a D10. For phones I use HFI-780's or ATH-AD-700's. I listen to mostly metal/industrial. I bounce around a bit with genre's. I like the sound of the HFI's, however after...- ickyman

Need advice... ATH-AD700's + HFI-780's = ?
I am using a d10 via optical from my comp with FLAC's. I don't have any complaint with the SQ of my source. The volume I can get from the d10 is limited. It sounds plenty clear though. I'm using both these phones with the same source. The differences between the 2 are as dramatic as their...- ickyman

Need advice... ATH-AD700's + HFI-780's = ?
I own both these phones. To cut to the chase... The ATH-AD700's, there are 2 things which prevent me from using these phones as my "listening to music" phones. First, the bass on these phones is weak. Second, these phones suffer from dynamic compression... further diminishing their bass...- ickyman

Ultrasone HFI-780 Appreciation Thread
You GD slackasses. I can't believe I am starting this, either that or I am just a complete jackass and praising a headphone which sounds good to me me on a wide variety of recordings and just too dumb to know better. Easy to drive, closed, sounds great for the price. I like 'em.- ickyman
