From what I have read, the Nano can't fully supply a 80Ohm headphone.   BTW, the batteries for the beats, as far as I know, are only used for the noise canceling. There is no built in amp.

I have had a pair of DT990 600's since 1992 and they are still working. Pads just wore out.... They have amazing build quality from my experiance.

I would just like you point out, that you must select the option to allow high quality streaming in the settings.   Happy listening folks!

I see what you mean. Its certainly a large step!     For me its just as much about the music as it is the quality and fedelity at which its played. I can still stand Ipod buds, but every couple minutes it hits me that it sounds "off".

Do you unscrew the existing 3.5?

I recently bought some previously "enjoyed' Denon 5000's and quickly noticed that the supplied headphone adapter did not work well when attached.   Is this the correct one that came with your Denon's? Does the 3.5 screw off the top of the cable to allow the 6.5 room sit?

Mine were decent. They didn't have a lot of "umph" to them, and they don't come close to Beats if that's what your comparing too.   I thought it was a bit on the Low side personally, but not a deal beaker.
