Agreed that the 1950s is indeed rather versatile. It has equally well synergy with the Phantom and Noble's Katana (with rather different character on their own).

Another cable that I think pair with Phantom very well is the PW Audio 1950s. I know it's ridiculously expensive and many will doubt/argue whether its worth its asking price. However setting this aside I truly think it's a good pairing. It retains the fundamental character of the Phantom but...

Generally speaking the 1960s has more emphasis on the lower mids and bass, while 1950s is relatively colder and more airy. It depends on what you want to achieve.

I have both the Phantom and Katana. They are indeed pretty different but both have emphasis in the mid range (broadly speaking), but in a very different way IMO. Phantom is famous for its lush thick warm mids, while Katana focuses on clarity and forwardness. At first I did find Phantom veiled...

It is a matter of perception and preference and there is no point in seeking a proof as such, as there is no right or wrong answer. How much money a person is willing to invest in cables is entirely a personal choice, and I don't see the point in challenging that.
