Hey!   I just recently got into head fi as well. I can vouch for the dt880s, I love them :D I started by purchasing a pair of those and later on got a schiit valhalla amp a few weeks later. I'm saving up for a DAC right now. Whatever you decide I'm sure it'll be a great start on an awesome...

Let me know how you like them with gaming, I don't game often with my headphones on. I think I get too tunnel vision when I'm playing and don't really pay attention to the sounds. In BC2 I'm just running around looking for people to revive :D    Are we all getting BF3 as well? 

Just dled Street Fighter 3 online   Didn't get a chance to play the original on the ps2 but the game is really fun so far. Its a lot harder to pick up but I'm a fan of any SF games. At least now I have a chance to experience what some say is the best SF game in the franchise.   I'll give...

What games are you planning on using with the headphones?

I was thinking about the e7 actually, just wasn't sure how exactly my rig would work. Would it just be from laptop -> E7 -> Valhalla ->dt880s?    Would I just use the RCA to 3.5mm jack that was part of the amp to connect to the E7?

Around what price point would be considered a "cheap" DAC? Under 200 dollars?

thanks for the responses everyone :D   And yea, I was just curious on how much of a difference a DAC would make to the music. I was told when I first bought my hp that an amp would make a huge difference and it did. The soundstage got wider and everything got clearer. It was hard justifying...

G500 here was well! I came from the  Razer Deathadder, but the weights on the G500 just sold me on it. I haven't gone back since. The hyper scroll also helps with reading long forum posts :) 

I can vouch for the Dt880s to be paired with the Valhalla. I don't have much experience since these are my first open headphones and my first amp, but I really do love them. You can't go wrong either way, the Dt 880s are wonderful :D
