Interested on what you feel I think the better built optical cables do sound pretty good but it is very dependent on the player

I have and find it excellent . It's only a 500mm length and it's neutral, dynamic and detailed . I do like dhlabs stuff as a rule I have never been disappointed with there stuff

I wonder who in all those supposedly brilliant recording engineers squashed the living daylights via loudness in recordings ? Perhaps because they used souless generic data loving USB cables they couldn't tell the loss of dynamics , tempo and emotion in the music.

I'll chime in to this old posta , I repair amps and speakers this amp comes stock with Nichicon caps with higher than normal tequmperature ratings , is as quiet as a mouse and plays music better than most of the equivalent amps of it's time . Can I suggest trying direct via your usb output and bypass the sotm for a day or two , then enable it in Roon. After a few days re-insert the sotm . I use Jriver with an Uptone Regen and audioquest jitterbug with a Gustard u12 via usb into an Nad m51 via aes/ebu I had difficulties at first but...

So I'm guessing you have gone into sound preferences on your computer see if it's visible selected it and set the usual stuff up. Windows always takes out my Gustard every time there's an update. You remove any conflicting drivers from old dacs as well ?
