What's the best USB audio cable for the money?

Hey friends, anyone tried Platinum starlight 8?
Love to hear how it compares against Platinum 7 which i have.
While i love the speed, punch, details and crystal clarity it provides, i find it a bit fatiguing long term.
Tiny bit less sharp transients with comparable technicalities would be nice.
Platinum 7 vs 8 intrigue me a lot.

Back in the day i liked tonal balance of low end audioquests, but those have worse soundstage and more noise.

There's something with the Wireworld's geometry that gives you a wow factor in sound but gets fatiguing over time. Even the regular Starlight 8 that I have has this trait while my Audioquest Pearl has such beautiful organic tonality with 3D spherical soundstage and excellent dynamics rivaling SPDIF (Yggdrasil DAC and A&K SP2000 DAP synergy in my case). Solid core rather than stranded wiring in "litz-like" configuration in USB application are much better in keeping this organic tonality IME.

There's a new review of the tubulus concentus USB that probably has the Wireworld's wow factor without the fatiguing tonality associated with it.

I thought that Audioquest's usb cables have non impressive soundstage width wise even in their top models...
Tonality is top tier on the other hand with depth being above average.
I do believe that thicker cables = more density and meat on the bones and wireworld cables have many, but thin wires.
All in all i believe that wireworld cables need some coloration.
Listening system with wirewold feels like drinking water when im in a mood for wine.

Wireworld platinum 8 usb have different geometry, but thinner wires... Even though wires are thinner i read that newer platinum 8 is smoother than platinum 7 so...

I agree about lower end AQ.

I am about to try a used 2020 Sablon USB soon. It's supposed to pull off full resolution ect. with no fatiguing elements at the same time.

Based on many impressions, I think that AQ USB cables don’t provide good synergy with a lot of sources/streamers/music servers/DAPs.

I didn’t find the AQ Pearl lacking in width and depth even compared to Wireworld Supernova 7 Toslink from the same SP2000 DAP I use as source . AQ pearl sounds spherical 3D to me moreso than even the Starlight 8 USB but then again I chalk it up to SP2000 DAP and Unison USB in Yggdrasil MIB DAC synergy with that cable

Synergy is the intangible that everyone must strive for, we can all give opinions but try, try, try to find what works for you.

In terms of Wireworld I love my Spdif (coax) cable but have never tried their USB after getting my Supra, I felt I was good right there.

Cheers!!

I imagine Punchy and smooth Aq cables pair well with R2r dacs like yours which already have great soundstage.
I like super punchy chip based dacs and i imagine that wide and airy cables pairs best with such dacs like my Topping Dx9.
Its all about synergy like so many people are saying...

Its hard to pick right component even after auditions cause some components sound impressive short term, but long term it can be unbearable.

Its simple Supra or Excalibur?
Excalibur from people impressions sound like wireworld platinum starlight 7, but base supra smoother, but bit less technical.

I have the Standard Supra (around 50 USD) I have always wanted to try the Excalibur but just as of yet haven't gotten around to it, Happy is Happy I guess lol

After reading all the positive comments the EX is now on my "next buy/try list"

Cheers!!

I am waiting for Audioquest Carbon optical cable to connect CD transport to an Amp.
I have another Audioquest USB Cinnamon (as I already mentioned) connected to the same amp.
I am interested if I will hear any differences at all when I listen to the same music.

I will leave a comment about it when the cable arrives and after listening.

Cheers!

I am about to try out a Lifatec glass optical cable. I must have at least 5-6 relatively cheap standard level optical cables none have ever been able to more than sputter attempting to play 24/192k. Most just put out no sound at all 24/192k. I've had the same issue on several connections and combinations for years. They always work with 24/96k.

I'm considering a QED reference which are pretty well priced here and also very favourably reviewed.

That one looks nice. I'm glad there are plenty of nice optical cables in the $100-$200 range. Doesn't seem necessary to spend more. I can't help but imagine optical cables all sounding pretty close to the same or very similar once you get them to a certain point.

Resolution wise, PRAT and dynamics would be similar but imaging and black background would still vary even at the top of the Toslink cable world. The Wireworld Supernova 7 for me has more depth than width while the AQ cinnamon has less dynamic and less clarity than the Supernova but it is wider sounding though
