Shanling UP5 - Our new flagship portable Bluetooth DAC/AMP
Hmmm... Not sure about this! Used my UP5 with many Smartphones/Tablets/Laptops and the volume is consistently a lot lower over Bluetooth than wired. It's always been like that since I got the UP5. One of the main reasons I got rid of it actually.- creepyg

Odd, still showing £176.66 for me? TBH, I'd happily pay £211 for them. Really enjoying them so far.- creepyg

New Beyerdynamic Pro X line: DT 700 Pro X and DT 900 Pro X
Agree, the SRH1540 are fantastic. I wouldn't go as far as to say they're end-game for me (never say never and all that...) but I feel no need to keep looking at other closed-backs for now. I've actually just bought the DT900 Pro X as an open-back 'companion' set for my SRH1540. The SRH1840 were...- creepyg

I can't speak for the Kato in particular but I also find a significant difference in power/volume between Bluetooth and wired..- creepyg

Shanling UP5 - Our new flagship portable Bluetooth DAC/AMP
Been using the UP5 for a couple of days now. Pleased with it so far, sounds great and proving to be very versatile with built in Bluetooth. Finding myself using my over-ears around the house more. One thing, would it be possible to add a battery %, either on the unit or the app? Edit: I...- creepyg

I'm wondering this also. Mine should arrive later this week and the various firmwares seem to have pros and cons.- creepyg

What would you like to see in a gen 2? I can't think of much Shure could do really. They already sound great and are super comfy. Guess the noise cancelling could be improved (moot point for me, I don't really use it), maybe longer battery life? Allow EQ with LDAC? Edit: actually, if Shure...- creepyg

Shanling UP5 - Our new flagship portable Bluetooth DAC/AMP
Hmmm... So I was about ready to buy the UP5 when I came across this thread. Gotta ask, is it really as bad as this thread suggests? Seems like decent hardware badly let down by dodgy firmware. Granted, things seem to get fixed for the most part but still! I'm in the UK and was going to buy...- creepyg

Sorry to ask an obvious question, but have you tried a different cable? Issues you describe sound like a bad cable.- creepyg

New firmware and app update available now. Adds the ability to apply EQ globally rather than just to locally stored music. But only if you don't use LDAC...- creepyg

Well they've arrived, and in the meantime I've picked up a stinking cold... So my ears have the feeling of being filled with cotton wool. Not good... 🤧- creepyg
