Best Headphones for Metal
Your best option are some Grados with flats. If you found the Denons bright, bowls probably will be brighter for you.- carlosgp

Closed ones for nocturnal listening...
I think I will recommend the Darth Beyers. They have excellent isolation, very good bass and a nice soundstage. I prefer them to DX1000. In bed I tend to use big cans. I find them easier to remove and put over the bedside table. With IEMs and other small headphones I always end tangled with cables- carlosgp

Streaming Music Library Without Volume Normalization?
Volume normalization bad? Why? If you are doing it right it shouldn't be any problem. I'm normalizing with iVolume too. Great software.- carlosgp
